Those are just some of the games, mind you, that people enjoy. I'm not a fan of FPSers or arcade games, or fighters, for instance. Those are just mine.

And that doesn't consider the PSN Minis games either, which alone compete with WiiWare.

I have to say if WiiWare was created for only one purpose, it was definitely for Moto Heroz. Although, 3D Pixel Racing is also unique and enjoyable in it's own right, it's just not on the same level. A whOle nudda level. lol

I thought it started of well but failure to update the service with introducing sales or cutting prices of older games and more importantly allowing for bigger games means it was a failure in the end to me, its selection of games over the past few months speak for itself.

I think it could have been a lot better than what it was. Most stuff I was not interested in. I just wanted more VC games.

WiiWare just seemed to clunky to use, and there were only a few games that were really worth getting (IMO). I only got LostWinds, and I enjoyed the heck out of that, but I never got anything else, and don't feel like I'm missing anything.

I've had a much better time with the games I've gotten off XBLA (Portal, Battlefield 1943, PAC-MAN Championship Edition, Blacklight: Tango Down), and eShop (Mighty Switch Force, Pushmo, VVVVVV, Sakura Samurai, Mutant Mudds, Kirby's Adventure 3D, Kid Icarus 3D, Colors! 3D).

TBH, the only thing WiiWare is better than is the App Store (IMO). There is a lot of classic games on the AS, but the virtual buttons made them nearly unplayable. The original titles I played left a lot to be desired as well (N.O.V.A. in particular was a huge letdown).

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

So you've only played one game on the service and are developing an opinion? Congratulations.

I've also downloaded quite a few Virtual Console games, which use the same system (Wii Shop Channel), so I'm quite sure I'm familiar enough with the layout to form an opinion on traversing it. Also downloaded a few of the WiiWare demos.

Nintendo wasn't aware that too many users were too lazy to go through the clean accessible menus to connect their Wii too the internet. That's out of question.

The question is how many WiiWare titles have you downloaded, and how did you like them?

I downloaded 114 WiiWare games, and I liked most of them.
For me it was an easy way to get good games cheap. Always nice to have 2000pts spent on 2, 3 or 4 games when you couldn't afford a 50 bucks game on retail.

People have expressed a lot of strong opinions, but I think the number of high-quality (not to mention exclusive) titles released on WiiWare ensure that the service can't be called a flop for any gamer interested in tracking down the very best games on Wii. Just look at Metacritic scores if you don't believe me: roughly 1 out of every 5 was a WiiWare title if you check the 100 highest rated games released.

Is WiiWare better than competing services like XBLA or PSN? I'd have a hard time making that argument... but (solely from the perspective of a gamer) WiiWare is a pretty solid service and anyone who skipped out on it ended up missing some great games!

(Was it a flop for developers? Probably. For Nintendo? Possibly. But as a selfish gamer I care less about that than I do about having good games to play. WiiWare came through in spades there.)

Wiiwsre was solid and had a lot of good games. It wasn't own or xbla level but it was a good first effort.

Demos or not you can't form an opinion without playing some actual games. Demos aren't always what the game is actually like and the Virtual Console is not WiiWare so you can't include both when talking about one.

I think WiiWare started out well, but ultimately the Wii's limitations and Nintendo's lack of clear strategy on the platform doomed it to 3rd-tier status. Unlike the Virtual Console, WiiWare has no built-in target market and attempts to band-aid things with pre-installed online channels on newer Wiis was clearly too little too late.

I think I'd have to go with the "flop" judgement. It's fair to say that a few notable developers have made money (some quite a lot) on WiiWare, but these are limited examples. The decline in the number and quality of software releases speaks volumes. I think the fact that in Japan there are still two or three DSiWare releases per week, but only a handful of WiiWare releases in 18months, speaks louder than any individual internet opinion: you cannot call it a success if no one is trying to sell their wares.

I never once said that WiiWare had bad games. I said that the interface of the shop felt really clunky. It doesn't matter if you're going there to download a full game, demo, or VC. For every one of those, you navigate the same interface to get to them. In comparison, XBLA's and eShop's interfaces are much smoother, and aren't a hassle to browse. Again, I never said anything about the quality of the games, just the quality of the shop's interface.

I think the interface is okay myself, but it's unacceptably slow. You cannot really blame people for not being bothered to browse if just flipping through the pages of the catalogue takes fifteen minutes. I know there are people here with over 100 shop purchases - even if you sat there constantly trying to download all your purchases from scratch following a major system repair I expect it would still take days to complete; and this is despite the fact that no single file would be larger than 40MB!

I've played around with the Wii online enough to know that the issue simply has to be in the Wii's online software as there's no way performance should be that bad using 802.11g WiFi when I've got a 20Mbps connection backing it up and nothing else actively using my home network. As far as I can tell the Wii seems to have been configured to ensure that downloading new system updates is only done once or fails. The problem is that such stateful transmission is slower because the emphasis is on ensuring every packet arrives intact. If they had gone for maximising speed and using a method of error correction on the other end I expect we'd have all had a much better online experience.

Hopefully the Wii-U will have a better internet stack in addition to supporting 802.11n WiFi.

Not at all
Sure, the sales weren't good, but think about it. If Wiiware hadn't exsisted, there would have been no Lostwinds. No Bit.Trip. No Max & The Magic Marker. No Hydroventure. Nothing

So you have used the service only a handful of times and you're developing an opinion based off with little knowledge to what everything provides?

I can't take you seriously.
