Alright, so apparently, Super Meat Boy has been kicking LOADS of trash on the X-box Live Arcade. However, this thread is to discuss the WiiWare version. Why hasn't it come out for WiiWare yet when Team Meat said that Wii was the console that they wanted it for? Yeah, I know that there were business issues with Microsoft, but that doesn't explain why it could be released for WiiWare at the same time.
I've been watching LP's of Super Meat Boy here: http://www.youtube.com/user/lastexile0 (This channel is SUPER awesome, by the way), and, though skeptical at first, I am now fully in love with the game and wish to get it for WiiWare when it finally comes out!
Do you think that the WiiWare version will have downloadable content? Or will all that be included? Will it have a super sale period of reduced price like XBLA users are enjoying? More importantly, who wants to send this game to me as a gift when it comes out?
Yeah, I know that there were business issues with Microsoft, but that doesn't explain why it could be released for WiiWare at the same time.
Actually, that absolutely explains it.
I've barely had a chance to play it so far, but it is awesomely (hard) awesome. Hope to get to it some more this weekend.
I hope, for Wii-only users sake, that there will be the initial reduced price, but i kinda doubt it. I imagine that was also part of the deal they had with MS.
Watching LPs while anticipating a game is the worst thing you can do. It ruins your first play because you know what to expect.
On that note, Nintendo is the sole decision-maker about when WiiWare and VC games are released. The SMB team can't tell them, "release NAO". I think we figured that out already after a lot of those hiccups with DSiWare.
And then there's their XBLA agreement which apparently requires exclusivity for a period of time.
But you see, I wasn't anticipating Super Meat Boy. I didn't know a thing about it until I watched that LP.
Yes, you'll know what to expect. But at least you'll know what you're getting into before buying so you don't waste money. A WiiWare game isn't something you can rent or trade in for another game if you don't like it. Also, I expect to get my arse kicked to the infinite with this game.
One of the first WiiWare games I bought was Pop. It looked cool, so I grabbed it. It was fun at first, but now I regret it when I could have used those points for a PC game. So you see, in this case, an LP is extremely helpful.
I'm personally a bit upset that the SMB team told me the game "can't" come to PSN. I would have preferred it come to PSN over Xbox Live (since I don't own a 360 and most likely never will). I do also own a Wii though and will just buy the WiiWare version instead. I can't imagine it having less content than the 360 version though.
... XBLA gets 1 month exclusivity (requested by them) and WiiWare Gets Super Secret Exclusive(s)
They also got 'Teh Internetz' but PC gets Level Editor. I'm not sure what WiiWare will get though.

Yup exclusives for each system ... and exclusive characters too I'm guessing ... because PC gets Mr.Minecraft
I don't think there would be, cause 360 and PC get commander video, and WW is getting Tim from Braid. So I don't think (other than Mr. Minecraft) that there will be exclusives.

Bad news, I found out that the WiiWare version won't have anything special going for it. It will be the version that Team Meat originally intended, and this is due to the size constraint.
I do have good news though:
1. The D-Pad is far superior on the Wiimote. 2. They didn't say anything about DLC. That could still be a possibility. 3. Since this version isn't as souped up as the XBLA version, perhaps it won't cost 1500 Wii Points? One could only hope.

Superior D-Pad doesn't make a difference for this game because it uses only 2 directions. (outside of the menus) As for DLC; they themselves said in an interview that DLC is for developers with no integrity. That's my exact thought on it, so I really hope they didn't have a change of heart since that interview.

Perhaps if it needs to be paid for, but the XBLA version is getting FREE DLC, which I see nothing wrong with, as long as their's a sufficent amount of stuff in the original version of the game, which there certainly seems to be. (200 levels I believe?)
