Topic: Space Invaders: Get Even on an SD Card

I just downloaded the basic starter package for the game and I'm just wondering something.

If i download the extra levels and I'm playing the game off the SD Card, will the extra levels work? Will work if i move the data onto the SD Card. I'm just curious as I've heard mixed things about this and I don't want to have to put them onto the Wii's memory to avoid running out of space there again, mainly so i can still run larger games off the card without problems.

You have to keep the 350+ blocks of SIGE DLC on the console itself... But you can play the game file off of the SD card. it's just the DLC that can't be on the card.

The SIGE DLC is what is eating up a good chunk of my console space. And with save files like Brawl (128 blocks) and CoD (60+)... I'm getting worried about space even with update 4.0.

So i can play the game off the SD card and access the DLC from the wii console. Ok, that helps a lot, thanks Chatham

Also, I agree with that stuff about the SIGE DLC and particular save files taking up too much space. Maybe (Or rather, I'm hoping) for when we get update 4.1, Nintendo will let us store save files on an SD Card too. That would be a big help. Come to think of it, I actually need another SD Card soon, or at least a bigger one to transfer all my stuff to.

I doubt 4.1 will let us do that... But we can dream. I'm just hoping for SDHC support in games like RB2, GHWT, and EO. They only support the old 2GB standard and I'm out of space for RB2 DLC.

Anything that is "DLC" (besides RB2/GHWT) has to be stored on console, but the games that they are from can always be on the SD. At least for now.... Glad I could help.

Yes I also hope that DLC files like those in SIGE will someday be accessible from the SD> I've been hesitating getting the game because of the DLC. (Not just because of storage but the price and all.)

Whatever Ninty does, it would still have to "cache" to the Wii Memory with the rest of the game, just like everything in the SD menu does when it "launches".

Yeah, you really need as much free space on the console as possible once you start getting these games with the big save files. Most games with user-generated data have big save files like BlastWorks; I expect Boom Blox Bash Party will also have a hefty save file though the devs said that it's just coordinate data so tiny amounts for each file...

@Sean

It's getting ridiculous... I'm running out of Wii space without any of my channels on there. And I always need about 300 free for RB2. The dev says 200, but I've seen corruption happen with the RB file at even 267 blocks. And NO ONE wants to have to do the Endless Setlist again (for non-RB players, that's all 84 songs IN A ROW on EXPERT!). Right now I'm sitting at about 800ish without a cached game... A few more big titles and I gotta start worrying. Hopefully Nintendo will find a way to address this issue ina future update... But with the Wii tech that would be kinda tricky.

Off-topic (but still directed at Sean)... I assume your avatar pic is of you. So how much is the price of smokes in your parts? The average just went up to about $7 in WA... But I'm sure the Brits have it much worse. Thinking about quitting.

Clearly my name is not Mike and I have no male siblings (that I'm aware of...); out of curiosity where does Mike live?

With regard to cigarettes I don't smoke, but I believe they're close to £5 a pack (seems about the same as what you're reporting) -- definitely a habit worth kicking for financial reasons alone!

I have to think that it's more likely you'll see a fix-forward solution to the game save issue just because I suspect the game save routine is part of the IOS which gets bundled with the games themselves so it's unlikely to be something that would work backwards. I expect once Nintendo is satisfied the code would prevent game saves being used on multiple system to game online leaderboards (like the way DLC will tell you it can only be used on the Wii it was purchased for we might see games where the save data can only be used on one Wii for games like M&S at the Olympics) we might see games that prompt for a location to save game data to/read it from.

Oh, definitely not someone I know then, but I suppose he could be a distant relative!
