Tried it out. Thought it was much better than the negative Nintendo Life review. There appears to be a lot there for $5. Enjoyed completing the first zone. The level editor was impressive, although the demo did not allow me to try out my creation. The game also appealed to my 6 year old who was really enjoying the level editor. I recommend at least trying this demo out for yourself and giving it a chance despite the poor NL review.

I'm trying it out. I already think the NL score is too low compared to the review contents.

Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

Yeah.. what was wrong with this? I seem to remember the reviewer giving the impression of it being boring.
It wasn't really bad. Though I would have liked to have been able to make more goals. Also took me awhile trying to see if there was a way to play my created level (Didn't see any on the demo).

Don't take it personal, Terra; if other people like the demo, they like the demo. It takes all kinds to make the world go 'round, after all. :3

The problem I had with the review wasn't that I disagreed with the opinions. It's that the content of the review (most of the complaints were in pretty minor areas) made it sound a lot more like a 5 than a 3. It's an good example of why you should read the full reviews of games in which you're interested instead of just looking at the review score.

After playing the demo, I'd personally give it a 7/10.

I agree with the 7 out of 10 Rex. Some people don't like block break games and find them boring. The concept has certainly been around for years. The nature of the game is slow and sometimes tedious in terms of breaking every last block. But, this game has a nice presentation with nice graphics. There is decent diversity from level to level to make the game interesting for those who enjoy this type of game, and the level creator has a ton of options and is very complete. The negative would be the repetitive sounds but that can be turned off. The demo is definately worth a download, and I recommend the game... and so does my 6 year old who had never played this type of game before and enjoys the creative level editor.

Yeah, I thought the demo was great! No offense Terra, but I agree with Rex.

I thought 3/10 for a review was a bit too harsh. I had fun with it and anyone who enjoys Arkanoid should check it since its only 500 points or at least check out the demo.

I would like to know if anyone else had the demo freeze on them during the Boss battle in Round 9.

I just don't get why people are playing this instead of Bit. Trip =P

Check out my classy comics.

Because I can't last more than two or three minutes in either of the Bit.Trip demos we've had so far.

I'm going to agree with Terra's score on this one. This is a very bland Breakout clone. And I liked Breakout. Stale gameplay and the odd computer-controlled goalie paddle is a poor and somewhat unoriginal attempt at linking it with the soccer theme.

There are far better Breakout clones available on DSiWare (Alphabounce for 500 points) and Steam (Shatter, also for a low price).

So I went and played the demo, and I definitely think this game is below average. The game looks polished, but the soccer theme seems like more of a cheap novelty for what really isn't a soccer game and what really doesn't boil down to a great block breaker game either. Hearing people trying to sell me the same food items over and over again didn't add to the soccer atmosphere and was really annoying. My main problem was that the ball is simply too slow, so it felt like I had to wait forever to hit the ball each time, and it wasn't much of a challenge to hit it. Sometimes block breaker games have balls that seem impossibly fast to react to, but at least it makes them more exciting than this game.

The game seems okay, but most of the game's strengths come from Breakout and its clones rather than anything original. It's okay as a free demo but I wouldn't pay money for it.

If you find yourself spiritually drifting (as I was for far too many years), remember that Jesus can and will walk across the water to reach you and bring you back to shore.

Problem with the demo is it doesn't mention you can increase the ball speed with well-timed presses of the B Button. I think that was a significant oversight.

I saw that listed in the controls, but I couldn't figure out when to do it in the game. Do you know?
