The reason people care so much about it being late is that it's widely considered to be one of the greatest games of all time. It has an intensely loyal fanbase, which is why there are so many people complaining about the delay.

yep. i've been wanting to play it so bad lately, but i want to save that love up for the new version. i also don't want to go back to the computer keyboard; i'm not buying a game controller to play a single game on my computer when i already have great controllers for my wii, which it'll be released on very soon. hence the waiting.... and complaining

The game is a lot of fun, but if you are that impatient, get the freeware PC version. There are tons of little things to do in that game, I know someone who plays it constantly.

it's a justified statement; it's the only 2D game i can think of that compares to super metroid, which is my own personal favorite. imagine navigating mega man through a metroid-type world with some of the funnest video game music ever and you have a vague notion of what cave story is.

No, Romulux, I'm chiding neither him nor his opinion. Read on - oh, wait, you did, 'cause you quoted me - you see the part where I said "hey man, if you say so," followed by "I know nothing about the game...?" That's me saying hey man, if he says so, and I know nothing about the game.

I'll be happy if it turns out to be one of the best games of all time. Surprised, sure, but happy all the same.

Cave Story is very much in the same vein as those older titles - it's purposefully styled in an 8-bit fashion and probably single-handedly started the retro movement among indies and, recently, the industry. That's already saying a lot without telling you the immense quality of the game.

I wouldn't go so far to call it one of the greatest of all time but it's pretty darn close.

I think your skepticism is unfounded until you try it or at least read more about the game. Until then you can't legitimately say anything about it, frankly.

Hey, it's free and comes highly recommended, so why not give it a shot? You have nothing to lose.
