I'm not completly sure if that time was all that one game(I'd hate to think that it actually did take me that long to finish it.. The time seemed a little too long. I had got stuck in a couple of levels though.
By the way, Whats the point of going through the normal mode? It doesn't appear to allow you to upload your score on the online leaderboard. Seems almost a waste unless the story is really good.

I must really suck at this game, even more than I first thought because I have gotten nowhere near even coming close to completing it.

@Sean - Been awhile since I played a BB game. Anyways, I think I've gotten a bit better, but I've take stupid chances sometimes.

@Valleyoftheunos- how far have you gotten? Are you having trouble doing anything in particular?

Probaby 2 hours. I played for an hour and got to level 45 but there were a couple of levels that I died on and had to redo.

I completed the classic levels in 1:07:xx. That's with 10 credits (ranked mode); if you use more, it'll take longer.

If you're really good and can catch the warp from 50 to 70, and if you pick up some umbrellas along the way, it could probably be done much faster.

The point is that it's fun, you big nut! Remember "fun?" The reason videogames were invented in the first place?

Tell me about it. rolls eyes
Anyways, I made it pretty far in Super Standard today (or was it S. Arrange?) but I got stuck at Level 71 and gave up.

@Longtimegamer, I pretty much just get pwnd around level 35 to 40 on the original and am stuck by level 21 on arrange, the enemies are on a ledge at the very top with no way to get to them, I'm sure ifts just a mater of bubble jumping up there but I haven't managed to pull it off.

longtimegamer

Yea but it's the same thing as online, unless online doesn't have the story.

@Knuckles - What's wrong with your eyes? Excercising them? I'll have to try that mode. Are you playing alone? It kinda sucks on the first mode that you actually have to play with someone to get the good ending (If it's much of one.)

Anyways I didn't forget, but the reg mode and online mode gameplay doesn't seem much different from each other. So why not just combine the story mode and online mode? They just seem to similar to need to be separate. See what I mean?

The key difference is that in ranked mode, you're constrained to playing single-player, normal difficulty, with a limit of 10 credits. This is important because it forces a level playing field for the leaderboards. In the regular mode, you can play with the options set however you like.

What he said. Having said that when I play I play ranked mode, but it's been a little while since I've loaded it up since I've got so many competing games...think I (and my bank account) need a break!

Anyone know if there is a way to save 2 games on AITB? Seems only one person can save. Seems odd. Doesn't most of their games allow for multiple player saves?

I'm ranked #22 in Expert Mode as of this morning. Eat that, suckas!

(23-30 had a combined score of 100k, maybe. So no great feat. BUT I STILL FEEL AWESOME!!)

That being said...I"m playing Standard Mode. I am stuck on Lv. 72, Hi-Tech!!!

I can't do that trick on BB+. I can't make enough room. Did anybody else get stuck here? What's the trick? I can't fgind a video for BB+ version of this level...and I'm hearing whispers its a bit buggy. I <3 bubble bobble, and I've been enjoying it up to this point, but the lack of a save/password system on a console game (yes, even an arcade port) is a big pain. If I wanted to play non-stop, I'd get quarters and hit the arcade. I like being able to save. I like being able to shut down my console when I want to take a break. =

Edit: I think I"m stuck where Ragnor was. Anybody perhaps able to get a video of beating it on BB+? I've beaten it multiple times on the NES...I am just stuck here, though. Can't make enough room. ; ;

@Vyenpaka-Kapaka and @Ragnor : This level has become a major issue in the game because the engine is slightly modified from the original game. Apparently the bubbles are able to pop much earlier than they should be able to. In later levels, the platforms are terribly short, and as a result, you will need to be RIGHT next to the enemies in order to capture them. As for Level 72, the issue is the same. Here's what you do. First, go as far from the center as you can, then GENTLY hit the other direction. The character should turn around but not move much if at all. At this time, jump in the air, and while going up, blow a bubble. If the bubble still pops, you moved too close to the wall and have to do it again. If it appears, hold the jump button and you will do a bubble jump. Repeat until you are out.

longtimegamer

@post 55- Or you just don't move when you first get there ( you'll be in just the right place) jump up blow a bubble, get on it, and repeat till you're out (I wouldn't touch the directional until then.) I figured this out my self, but it took awhile. It was frustrating until then, that and level 99.

You know wish they wouldn't make some of these so narrow. Best to avoid the ones you can.
As for level 72, I'd have to look at it again. I'm using my Wii so I can't just copy past your link. sorry.

I was tempted to get Bubble Bobble: Plus but some people posted in the review that there is a bug in the game that causes your character to get stuck in certain narrow corridors. Has anyone heard anything about this glitch and if so has it been corrected yet?

Yes. The original had a thing where you could jump and blow a bubble at around the same time against a wall and you'd be above the bubble, but that doesn't work here, so some levels (level 72, I think?) are harder then they should be.

I bought BB+, it's a great game, though bub and bob's 3d looks strange, the 3d on the enemies looks great. I wasn't interested in AITB, since I'm not a fan of the series.

The best strategy in the game: go up stairs and pause balls.

Billmaan

Ugh. Evidently the game doesn't save your clear time or bubble records for the "super" modes. Instead it saves your records for them as plain "standard" or "arrange" records.

Just thought I'd post a warning before anyone wastes an hour clearing those modes.

On the topic of bugs, I also realized the other day that several items cannot be legitimately obtained: the one that requires three books of the dead, the one that requires three parasols, and the one that requires four parasols. (They're impossible to get because of the way the game generates items; I can post a full explanation if people care, but it'd be fairly long). I think the one that requires two star tiaras also can't be obtained, since I've picked up many tiaras and never seen it...but I can't explain that bug. I think I know what those items are supposed to be, and they also produce unique "food" items, which therefore also can't be obtained. So, don't worry about completing your item collection...

If you've found bugs you should seriously contact Taito; they may fix them and update the game!
