Hello. Very interested in hearing initial impressions of this game. Does it have multiplayer as originally advertised or was it dropped? What about online play? Thanks in advance.
no muilti player or online from what i have seen its a tower defense style like the web game ant buster, there is basically a huge map and in one part is your base some maps will have more then 1 opening for enemy troops in waves troops may use more then 1 entrance every tower has a range that it fires at, towers can be upgraded or changed what changes this over other tower defense games is that this game has heroes with special powers and gain levels this game is a great deal for 6$ for fans of tower defense games story mode only 10 chapters long first one has 7 waves and 2 only has 10 waves, but with survival mode the gameplay is endless, it would been nice if the game online leader boards to encourage replay nowdays most gamers can't seem to replay games with out online leaderboards and achievements
It was supposed to have online but on the wii shop channel and the manual there is no mention of it. Considering that its 600 points I think the game was probably scaled back a bit and they took it out.
I'm really hoping I like this game, because I downloaded it with some extra points I had. But I'm not allowing myself to play it until I beat (or get frustrated and give up on) My Life as a Darklord. Which could take a while... But it looks like a quality TD game, and the DS Robocalypse game got good reviews (which was an RTS on the DS), so I'm sure they're capable developers.
Okay, well, I played it so here's some impressions. It's a maze-style tower defense game, meaning you build towers to create mazes and paths for the enemies to go through instead of putting the towers in preset locations. It has some interesting RTS elements though. You have a Hero unit that you can select before the level, then you can move it and they attack enemies in their range. They also have special abilities. One unit I just opened can build a fake HQ, which lures the enemies to the wrong place. And you always have units in the levelse that repair damaged towers, but you don't control them. The RTS aspects add an interesting dynamic to the gameplay.
The only problem is that I think there are only ten levels in story mode. I could be wrong, but in the Extraz menu you can watch the pre-level cutscenes and there are only ten. Of course there's also a survival mode, which could add some play value. But what's there is definitely fun and not too bad for 600 points. I'm enjoying it, at least, and I like supporting small devs. It's also better than a lot of free TD games on PC, so that's a plus.
