... The plane's motion controls are mapped to the nunchuk...

Thank goodness for classic controller support!

Seems nice so far though. Lots of different gameplay modes, including a free-flying mode to relax with

Nunchuk? How does that work? I never used the Nunchuk like that... it's always used as a waggle thing. What about Wiimote by itself?

Nope. Tilt the nunchuk in different directions to fly/aim. The only other option is classic controller support.

Don't forget, there is a a mode just for the Wii mote. Pearl supports hotswapping whilst you're in game, so experiment with them and find what suits you:)

Really? Didn't notice that. I thought it only supported wiimote & nunchuk or classic controller. I'll test it out soon. It's hard to aim with a nunchuk xD

Overall, good game so far!

You double poster! Lol (not like I haven't done it before). Man im dying here, I have no Wii Points. All I can do is sit back and read what people think. Unless someone wants to post a vid I don't mind taking a look at that

I'll be downloading this shortly. Sky Crawlers used the nunchuck as a flight stick as well and it worked beautifully. I ended up using analog in later levels as my hand would get tired but if this game controls as well as that then Im sold.

Played a few missions so far, and I have to say, the visuals are incredibly fluid for WiiWare. Definitely impressive by any standards for such a small studio (presumably...) and such a limited service (space-wise).

The controls are better than I expected, though the game does have an auto-steady feature that I'm having trouble getting used to. That's probably due to other flight games in which you wouldn't necessarily have to hold the joystick in the same place...you could just "set" your pitch and release the stick, and your plane would carry on in that direction. This is taking a bit of effort to overcome, and it's been letting a lot of opposing pilots live to fight another day, unfortunately.

Still though, after a few minutes with the game I'm getting used to it, and I'm excited to see more of the game. It's a lot of fun so far, and dogfight mode (which I've only tried a few times so far) is a stress-relieving blast.

One thing I don't particularly like...once the mission ends, the enemies can continue to attack you, Bit Boy style! I don't know if getting killed after the "Mission cleared!" notice appears will actually affect anything, but at least once I put down my controller only to find that the enemies weren't respecting the conclusion of the mission in the same way that I was.

I switched to the classic controller, which I liked the most. Finished the 2nd mission, and realized how tough this game can get! It took me a few tries to even finish the first mission. It's a great game though, I like it alot. I'm still getting used to aiming with a joystick, but it's better than the motion controls, in my opinion. It's also hard to aim missiles at the enemy It's fun for shooting enemy ships though

The very first thing I did when I got control of the plane was to crash it nose-first into the ground. Not intentional. Oops.

Thanks for mentioning that. A lock-on feature for missiles would be a great option. Yes, it would make the game a lot easier, but it would also cause my success rate with missiles to rise from 0% to something greater than 0%. haha

I've only played a bit so far -- the first two missions and some of dogfight mode -- and am thoroughly enjoying it. Graphics are quite good with respect to the planes and high-motion visuals; good explosion effects as well. Some of the old-school "distance-fogging" (a la Rogue Squadron), but acceptable. The sounds are great too -- the "clang clang clang" when bullets are ripping through planes is excellent!

I like the little pre-mission comic things too; neat!

Controls, i've been using the Classic. Started with the Wiimote only, but wasn't feeling the motion-control yoke ... think i'll try it out a bit more and see if i can get into it.

Very pleased with the game, eripmav! My kudos to you and the whole team!

One random question for now -- was there a concerted effort to not specifically say "Japan" or "Japanese"? I just thought it was strange, the "We're being attacked by oriental bombers!" thing.

I want this game. Is the Wii-Remote only controls similar to Wii Sports Resort? If it is, i will fall in love with this game just like in Wii Sports

Actually the remote is held sideways, 2 for machine guns and 1 for missiles.

So is this game kinda similar to the Rouge squadron series? I've been playing the first one on N64 lately so I'm kinda in the mood for a good flight shooter type game. Can you earn medals for each mission?

The gameplay so far reminds me a lot of Rogue Squadron, which is a very good thing in my eyes. But I don't think there's a medals earned thing, at least for the first couple missions (unless i'm totally oblivious).

That Darwin mission was effing hardcore. Ouch. I can only imagine what the later levels will be like...that was brutal!

Enemy AI is pretty good, I have to admit. Sometimes too good. It's nice to see them taking evasive maneuvers when I try to gun them down from behind...not so nice when they all team up on me (a luxury I don't have as my teammates seem to ignore me totally!) to pelt me with gunfire from about an 80 degree arc behind me, always managing to climb or dive just enough when I turn around that I miss them totally. The jerks. What do they think this is...some kind of war?

Ahem. Anyway. I honestly have to admit, this would be somewhere in 8 or 9/10 territory for me. My opinion could change as I play more of the game, but I can't imagine it getting either significantly worse or better...I'm anticipating a pretty steady quality level all the way through. This isn't the kind of genre than can (or should) rely on final-act curveballs...and that's okay. Because in spite of the personal gripes mentioned above, and despite the very bad language I've thrown at my TV so far, it's kept me playing, and that's what's important.

Anyone who was already looking forward to this game...I can't imagine them being disappointed.

@Chicken: Are you worried about it getting repetitive? Are the missions varied at all or are they all pretty much just dogfighting?
