You are not an authority on maturity. It is not your place to tell people to grow up or that they are ignorant or half of what you said. This is a thread for feedback on an ad. Not for feedback on others' feedback. No need to be so aggressive.
Expecting the internet to "baby" us is not the same as providing feedback to one particular site on what some of its users want. If people don't want to see this ad on this site, that is between them and the site, and it's their right to voice that concern, whether Adam likes it or not.
That said, you're responding to only one of multiple types of complaints. Not everyone is bothered by it because it is sexually charged. Other concerns include not-safe-for-work status and how unappealing it is -- not in an offensive way, but in a sort of grotesque way.
Super close-ups where the face and most of the rest of the body is cut away has this disturbing, dehumanizing effect that I personally just don't want to see, whether the person (when viewed in his or her entirety) is sexually attractive or not.
Amen, Adam. and as for @ALY, who are you to be knocking this site? why'd you even join if it's so stupid and as you said, "not even an official Nintendo website"? go play sexy poker and just chill out.
I've made a huge mistake.

I don't see where he "knocked" this site or said it was "stupid." The "not even an official Nintendo website" bit looks like it was meant to support the site's decision to run/allow the ad, as they are a third party and not required to follow Nintendo policy, which is true.
but the thing about pics in the forums is that you don't have to go there. but this ad was huge and right on the main page, so everyone who comes to the site will automatically see it.
Oh certainly, you can like someone and disagree, but it just wasn't worded in any way to indicate that with the comments about "whining" and such. No harm done.
And no, I wouldn't like a picture of a decapitation on the front page, either. You're being extreme with your "list" idea. This is not some obscure example of isolated personal tastes. They don't need a far-reaching survey to know that some people don't want to see decapitations and magnified underboob on the front page.
My only point is that questionable material would be best placed on subpages where there could be a NSFW warning for those who would wish to avoid it and those who don't mind. Honestly, I'd even count myself in the latter category when at home, but it's not something I want to see every single time I come to the site, without fail and without option.
Also, "demonizing the body" is not the same as objecting to objectifying it. Would they have put the same ad up with an average or flat-out ugly woman's body? No. It can just as easily be argued that the proliferation of this kind of faceless, photoshopped-beyond-perfection imagery in advertising and media is what's damaging, if anything.
Not that I'm saying either is true, just saying that it's not so clear cut, and since there is weight to both viewpoints, it would be nice to show consideration for the users who don't look at such an ad like you do the option to avoid it.
Personally, I just find it grotesque and out of place, nothing demonized about it.
I have a question which is only tangetally(sp?) related. For the last couple of days I've just been seen blank spaces with Nintendolife there half of the time. What's up with dat?

I never said most people would agree. My personal taste can't be exaggerated. Just because my concern may be obscure (at least one other has voiced it in this thread), doesn't mean the other concerns are. Most people complaining about it just don't want sexualized imagery on the front page, and like I said, they have just as much of an argument for this as you do against.
My personal objection was just in that one paragraph, but you picked it out as representative as the whole. You're right, there was a reason I started off with "Personally;" it was to distinguish that thought from the rest.
I totally agree with BrazCanaMan & Fox. I was born & raised in the states but I've also had the great opportunity to visit Germany & France. In the public parks woman sun themselves topless with nobody caring. At first it was a little shocking but nudity has never bothered me and I quickly got used to it, its their way of life and culture. To say that an advertising like this objectify's a woman, is a little absurd but I understand where your going. What if they took a picture of Michelangelo 's David and styled the ad the same way but using the lower portion, would anyone be pissed off. The fact that it's a woman, shouldn't come into place and shows just how Puritan trained our society is. I think the ad was done very well, clearly looking for a more edgy feel and yes, using sex appeal to draw attention. Look at any cola ad, even Saturday morning cartoons, Laura Croftt, or Axe deodorant for a comparison. Those are slapped in your face from TV, billboards, magazines and you can't get away or avoid those either. Boo to censorship...
Well I suppose the bottom line is that now we all know that there's the possibility of seeing a magnified underboob that is faceless and probably photoshopped beyond perfection. So, with that in mind, you can choose not to come here anymore so you won't be forced to see such things. I'm not the least bit surprised however and, like the vast majority of regulars on here if not all of them, I will continue to visit the site frequently just the same as before. I agree that you have the right to voice your opinion on the matter and obviously I have the right to post my opinion on your concern. And my opinion is that this is a rather absurd thing to be concerned about.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
all this wrangling needs to stop. the ad was toned down, and it's apparently only going to be up for three days. your concerns have all been duly noted, I assure you, but for right now, this is the best that can be done.
