Haha I'm a girl and I actually find this kinda funny,
There was something a bit like this with hunky dorey and female rugby players (they had clothes on). People complained. happened. Instead they replace the rugby women with an obese 45 year old naked guy. Nice (that ad is almost impossible to find now!)
It's a photographic close-up of a wet woman's midsection, plus some underboob. I do have to question the objectivity of the ad placement on a site for Nintendo games. (and, perhaps more importantly, for a game about beer pong)
There's a reason why those Evony ads were ridiculed for their blatant, irrelevant boobage.
Braz, I said some Americans. And those same ones would object to the attitude in those same examples you list. I don't think it's prudish, myself. Like Deadly said, this has nothing to do with the game. And saying "the world objectifies women" is perhaps the lamest excuse I can imagine. Do I need to ask if you'd jump off a bridge if everyone else did, too?
Better than all those ads without the naked women.
So true

guys, if we've said it once, we've said it a thousand times: if you have a problem with an ad on NL, use the Contact Form to complain. under normal circumstances, we'd ask that you get a screenshot of the offending ad and forward that along as well, but in the case of this one (which i'm not terribly appreciative of either, seeing's to how i'm at work and now i'm about to get made fun of for 'surfing porn', grr), i doubt it's necessary. the admins aren't always surfing the forums, and the title of this thread isn't really all that descriptive. making absolute sure they see your complaint is the only way they'll be able to get things taken care of for us.
BEST THREAD EVER future of NL >:3
[16:43] James: I should learn these site rules more clearly
[16:44] LztheBlehBird: James doesn't know the rules? For shame!!!
Guys, first of all thanks for all your comments on this topic - we've been watching and listening to what you have to say. It seems that a small amount of you have taken slight offence to the Pong Toss advert on the homepage (NA only).
Because we respect our users we've decided on this occasion to "tone down" the advert whilst still trying to get the clients message across. We hope that everyone agrees with this compromise as the admin staff agree the revised advert is more than acceptable.
Whilst we would never promote the site as completely "safe for work" (who should be looking at a video games website at work anyway? ) we obviously want our users to feel comfortable.
If you would like to contact us directly on this matter then please use the contact form, otherwise we've re-opened this topic for the time being.
Anyway, I think "The Pic of a sexy girl" ,is just a way to get People to buy the game. But the game has nothing to do with sexy girls.........

I don't mind the ad, but I don't currently have a job, kids or a judgmental spouse. It also doesn't make me wanna buy the game either, so I guess it fails in that regard. I feel sorry for the children on the internet who have their innocence crushed by this ad though because I'm fairly sure TV doesn't show anything this racy*.
*sykotek stopped watching TV a decade ago.
What is the meaning of life? That's so easy, the answer is TETRIS.

I definitely agree, and don't think NL should have to do this. However, marking individual articles or forum topics as NSFW is one thing, allowing users to choose whether they want to see this kind of material or not, but covering the entire front page prevents users from navigating the site to get to those articles.
I understand some of our non-North American users find the fact that this is even an issue hilarious, but the fact that it's a North American-only ad makes this a moot point. Nintendo makes family-friendly platforms, so you have to expect that most people who come to this site share that kind of attitude or they'd be on another platform.
Even in its toned down form, I find the ad obnoxiously unappealing, not necessarily morally offensive, in the same sense that I hate the occasional forum ad showing an overweight person's belly for some weight loss program. It's too in-your-face. I know how to use Google fine, I don't need Pong Toss or Nintendo Life's help finding an image like this.
I say this not out of outrage or anything but just to offer my own feedback. In a single instance, oh well, I'll just not go to the front page for awhile until the ad's done with, but if there were ever another ad of the sort (though that seems unlikely, as I can think of few Nintendo games as shameless and shallow as Pong Toss), I would personally (and regrettably) have to reconsider where I get my news.
I was going to start this thread soon if no one else was going to. I find it offensive, and not because I'm at work, or a prude, or a father...it just is. I don't want to see that crap when I'm just looking for Nintendo info. I agree with everything Adam has said. Thanks to NL for listening, but even this "toned down" image is offensive in its implications.
