So I got the game and I'll be posting impressions here in more detail later on but so far, I can already tell that this was worth it. For starters, the presentation values are quite good. If you have any questions, lemme know.
The characters don't talk. They're just... there... for moral support I guess?
Anyway the puzzles are very challenging. Some are kinda easy at the start but it ramps up. How one person may think one puzzle is difficult, another may see it as something that can be beaten easily when you look at it a different way so it all depends on the person (my sibling is storming through the levels right now!). But trust me, this game was worth 600 Points. Definitely a charming little puzzle game. I'll be playing more tonight after work and whatnot and maybe I can answer more questions later on but I will be compiling a review for it this week.
Oh and no, there's no story. Just solve the puzzles in the main mode but the characters are chosen to distinguish between different profiles and, like I said, they are at the side too but they don't serve a purpose or anything. The modes are set up very much like Picross DS I find and that's a good thing. I'm also glad that they didn't go the annoying way in using your wrist and given the complaints about Evasive Space's control scheme and all the controversy that that struck up, I think they learned from that and stuck to basics without adding anything "gimmicky" with the Wii Remote. I hope other people pick up on that point.
Feel free to ask any other questions. I'm enjoying it quite a bit thus far.
@longtimegamer: No, I didn't finish it. I'm about 50% done I think. I don't wanna rush it.
Yes I did read the Let's Catch review and I already made comments about it on the Review page. I was rather shocked that they took the approach I wanted people to take with it.
My sib is absolutely addicted to this game and has completed well over 50 puzzles! There are high-scores, yes, in that you can see your fastest time and you can earn Medals based on your performance.
The game's great. If anyone's hesitating, GET IT. It's SO worth it for 600 Points and it's great to see a new take on this original idea finally hit the service!
It most certainly is, Corbie! And Akinai pulled no punches and even did a great job with presentation too. Happy to see this turned out great whilst others didn't wanna give it a chance and completely wrote it off.
It's a pretty cool game for what it is. I actually like it quite a bit, and the head-to-head is a nice touch. Also a plus for me is the middle-eastern/Egyptian theme, but I wish they'd vary the soundtrack a bit. Hearing the same song restart at each new puzzle every 30-90 seconds is a little repetitive. I won't be surprised a t a 7 from Corbie. And a SOLID 7 at that.
Maybe I should let you write the review since you seem perfectly in tune with what I'm saying.
If you didn't intend that pun, it only makes it funnier. Enjoy the game man. I'll keep an eye out for your write-up. Oh, and if you need a break from the monotony, back out to the main menu for a minute or two. That music only sounds better after hearing the level music for a long time.
I saw that too, but also didn't try it because I browsed that menu before playing - in other words I saw it before I realized I'd need it. Naturally, I've gotta go try it now...
