We all know it's coming. We've had Gradius, Contra and Castlevania. The only other Konami series I can think of that has entries on 8-/16-bit systems and still receives entries today is Metal Gear. So as far as I'm concerned, the appearance of the MSX2 games in Japan is confirmation of a WiiWare entry being in the works. Who agrees with me?

So, assuming I'm right, what will Metal Gear ReBirth contain?
So far, all the ReBirth games have been 2D, and to narrow it further, have had 16-bit-esque graphics, so let's go with a 16-bit game even if all the 2D Metal Gears were 8-bit.

....And that's about all I can make of it. =/

I personally don't see it happening. Kojima is busy enough with MGS Raiden, MGS Peace Walker, and the new Castlevania. Plus, all the Rebirths so far have been standard action games, nothing narrative heavy. I don't know that it would fit in well. But I haven't played the original Metal Gears, so maybe they aren't much more than action games with rudimentary plots themselves. Of course, they could always do a simple remake of the first Metal Gear (or even both) without any Kojima involvement, especially since neither is on VC. But it'd be rather out of place with Metal Gear being mostly a thing of the Playstation now.

Come on, friends,
To the bear arcades again.

Not every Metal Gear has to be canon... Maybe they can take Snake's Revenge and somehow churn that one into a decent game... I don't know... But yeah, seeing how into WW Konami seem to be (especially if you consider that Hudson is more or less a part of Konami), a Metal Gear ReBirth seems inevitable sooner or later.

Is that better? =/

Well, I could see it. I've never played a Metal Gear game, so I would like it. I don't think there are any other series that could use a ReBirth game, but I'll check.

Okay, there's Ganbare Goemon, Life Force, Time Pilot, Gyruss, Parodius, Axelay, and maybe Suikoden.

It would be cool if it happened, but it's not likely.

I'd rather see Rocket Knight Rebirth. There were rumours a while back about a Rocket Knight Wiiware.

There is actually one being made, for PSN, XBox Live Arcade, and Steam.
...Well not a "Rebirth" kind of tittle but you get the idea.

Oh, I'd love that... Or maybe... To be honest I don't know really... I mean, seeing as every game thus far has been 16-bit throw backs and Suikoden was launched in the 32-bit gen... It's a bit of an odd thing to do. And secondly and most importantly, every game thus far has been short 5-ish level games of the action caliber... And Suikoden REALLY isn't... Not saying it couldn't be. I mean, I'm sure you can take the Suikoden universe and make a more actionesque title based on it. As long as it takes place in the main Suikoverse I'm up for almost anything... But it doesn't seem likely...

EDIT:
Oh and I'll bet you that Salamander ReBirth will happen. I can't imagine Konami stopping with the ReBirth series after three successful titles and Salamander seems like a fairly simple project to do and they could probably use alot of the Gradius engine to do it.

I would bet that this happens at some point. I don't expect anything soon but maybe later on in the Wii's life. Could/Should be very interesting if they do this. They'll do probably ReBirth other series first and for the next one, my money is on one of their other shooters first. Either Salamander or Parodius
