Konami on Thursday morning revealed that its obscure WiiWare title, Tomena Sanner, is coming to America. Although a specific price point has not yet been set, the game will be available for download in the first quarter of next year, according to the publisher.

That's the easy part. Defining exactly what Tomena Sanner is and how it's played -- well, that's much more difficult.

It's one part 2D side-scroller and another part dance party. Yeah. Players take on the role of businessman Hitoshi Susumu, who finds himself very behind schedule and therefore "won't stop running until he gets to his ultimate dance party." Yup. And along the way he'll dash past samurai warriors, T-rexes, cowboys, and much more. The title features nine levels spanning locales from the city and jungle to the moon. There's a full-fledged four-player mode and online leaderboards, too. And to top everything off, Sanner boasts an "endless level mode" that allows players to run continuously in hopes of earning the highest score
Konami hopes that Sanner's simple control scheme -- just one button -- will keep the action accessible for all players regardless of skill level.

"Tomena Sanner stands apart from other downloadable titles because of its zany nature and very humorous take on casual gaming," said David Daniels, director of marketing at Konami Digital Entertainment. "In bringing Tomena Sanner to a North American audience, we wanted to ensure that the game stayed true to its origins while also providing the essential 'party game' experience to consumers."

At first glance, Sanner seems like a genuine WiiWare oddball, but early word is that the title is great fun. We'll have more coverage in the near future, but we can already foresee a wide array of drinking games developed around this one.
