If you've read the new June issue of Nintendo Power Magazine then you may have noticed the ad on the last page from SquareEnix announcing FFIV: The After Years coming to WiiWare 6.1.09. I just wanted to share this little tidbit of information and give people something to look forward to! I am very excited about this! Does anyone else plan on downloading this game and do you think it will be as good as Final Fantasy IV or is it just another cash-in by SquareEnix?

I may download this. Need to get the Original game first though.

Yeah, I posted about it when I announced this weeks WiiWare release. Do you need to have played IV to understand it?

there's a lot of returning characters, and the story is supposed to be picking up 17 years after the end of IV. I don't doubt that you'd be able to play it on its own without a problem, but you're not going to understand half of what's going on in the background.

It would be weird not to release IV before this. I hope they do.

now that would be cool, if they were to release FFIV to VC alongside The After Years. :3

I'd really like them to release FFIV around now so people like me can have a few weeks to play through it and be ready for FFIV:TAY!

Not to mention the two (three?) other ports of FFIV already out. If you're interested in The After Years, there no excuse not to have played the original by now.

Actually, there is a wonderful excuse: Not everyone has a DS or Gameboy, and since it is already announced for the VC where it'll be cheaper and in the original format, I see no reason to waste a ton of money for one game to have an "excuse."

I've played it on SNES, but that was a long time ago and I never finished it.

If you want to rely on an eventual VC release that's fine. I'm just informing people that there are other ways to get a hold of the game before the WiiWare release.
