Y'know what's even cooler than dodging the star punch? Managing to dodge the punch that GIVES him the star in the first place! It's REALLY hard to do since there's so little warning, but it does save valuable time if you can pull it off. I was surprised I didn't get a star for managing, but I think that's the surest sign that you CAN'T get any stars against him.

My Backloggery Not currently in use, really. Never fully updated it, and probably never will unless I can FINALLY get a computer.
Also, all PSN/XBL friend requests without self-identifying messages will be deleted. I'm sick of asking who people are.

I haven't managed to dodge the punch that gives him the star yet. I wonder if you have to punch him immediately after/in a certain way after dodging? Oh, and could you tell if you have to block, duck, dodge left, or dodge right to avoid the aforementioned punch?

I tried counterpunching, but couldn't get it to work either with the star-giving punch or the star punch itself.

I dodge to the right with the star giving punch. Then, you can quickly fight back as long as you start with your left.

STAR PUNCH HELP!

Hey guys,

So I have been playing this pretty regularly every day. Doc is pretty tough, and is somewhere in between Major Circuit Contender and Minor Circuit Champ. There is indeed ways to get stars off of him, and its pretty amazing how Next Level went about it. Doc cant be beat fairly easily without Star Punches, but you're in for a whooping when you decide to start learning - Doc will pummel you at first - but it's training right? Thats the point.

Doc has two right handed upper cuts and both contain stars. One is delayed and one is not. Its all about timing folks, so keep training. NOTE - Left jab to face will unlock the stars. Body shots WILL NOT work.

When Doc's dancing in front of you he throws two punches: a left jab, and a right hook. Left body shot when he's coming in with the right hook will earn a star. I will work on the jab and get back to you.

Last one I have is when he throws a stationary left jab (first punch of Sparring mode). Right hand body shot will give you a star. I assume there are more, but these are all you need to take Doc down before he goes all leopard on you.

On that point I noticed that when you beat Doc before he rips off his suit - you get a trophy next to sparring instead of the normal shot of his face. This would imply some sort of easter egg, but I can't find anything different. I will keep looking though.

Back to some "old school."

@Pupito: That would imply that the picture of his face is the easter egg, and beating him without knocking the chocolate gives the normal trophy like is earned on the first two matches against him. I had already theorized this, but hadn't bothered to confirm it.

Thanks for all the Star Punch info, too. That's a bunch of stuff I never would have thought to try. There are a lot of characters in the retail game that apparently have lot more ways to earn stars than I could ever guess, seeing as there are Exhibition trophies to be earned for finding a bunch of ways. Tough stuff.

So do we have anymore Star Punch updates? I couldn't find anymore. What about best times? Or have we all stopped playing this game and are now buying Mario Hats off ebay?

Well, I haven't bothered to go back to the game since your Star Punch update, but I'm not buying Mario hats on eBay, either.:P
