Hi guys

Ever since I can remember I wanted to make my own game. So, I have finally decided to go ahead and start designing it.
I have so far designed the game, finished the story board and now starting the animations and programming for the game.

Originally I was going to just build the game for PC / MAC, but I have been told that WiiWare allows me to submit my Flash game, and if it's of a high standard I will be in with a chance of getting my game published on wiiware.

Does anyone else know what I need to do to achieve this, as I've looked all over the web but can't find anything.

The game it's self will be an old school point and click adventure game (Very cartoony and well animated, with clever puzzles - about 5hrs of game play)

Thanks for your advice

There is a bit of red tape to go through to get licensed with Nintendo, from what I hear. You need to prepare having a VERY good premise for a game to them and perhaps even show that you are entirely capable of developing games for Wii and keep within NDAs and whatnot.

do not really have any advice per say but I wish you the best of luck and if it gets up on Wii Ware let us know

Just curious, what is it?
What genre?

I desperately want to develop for WiiWare, but I believe you have to get a $1000 development kit and crap. I'm pretty sure Nintendo is snobby about letting you have them too.

How odd that it's actually called "Wario World..." Looks like a useful site, though.

@spires: You picked a great genre, so I'm definitely interested in your game. Best of luck with it, and be sure to let us know how it's coming!

Ahhh no I didn't see that. Sorry. But I also know a few people on the inside that I can put you in touch with that could probably help you out even more.

Maybe you should create a flash demo first and send it to Nintendo later at warioware. It should be much easier for registration. Or maybe ask a developer for publishing you.
Age Rating Costs world wide (except asia) around 4000 Euro.

A new Fantasy Tactical RPG will be announced for WiiWare this month.

Hi guys.
Thanks so much for your messages, you've been a great help

On the back of your messages, I have found out that I need a SDK toolkit, this will allow me to develop wii games. However at $2000 it's not cheap. So, I have since found a few developers that I can contact who can build it for a charge.

So, next questions is:

  • If I go with a developer, would it be easier for them and cheaper for me if I already have the game fully built in flash first?
  • Will any of the flash code or animations be able to be used in wii development?

This is something that I am now committed to achieving, now I know that it can be done i'm going to try and make it happen

Once the demo is online (first section) I would love to get your opinions on it, and see weather it's going to be worth my hard eared cash trying to get it on Nintendo, or weather I should just stick with PC/MAC.

Thanks once again.
You've all been a great help.

Hmm. I'm 99% sure that Wii doesn't support flash. You'll probably have to develop the WiiWare version in C++ and OpenGL, so you won't be able to carry your flash code over. I'm sure there are some SVG + animation libraries out there for OpenGL, so you could probably bring the animation over.
