More. I wasn't even considering Bit.Trip Beat until I tried the demo, and I was completely blown away by what I played. I bought it as soon as the demo ended. Now Bit.Trip Core and Bit.Trip Void are next on my list of Wiiware games to get(in fact, until I got Bit.Trip Beat, I hadn't purchased any Wiiware games in almost a year!). As far as I'm concerned, the demoes are a success. I can't wait to try the other ones!

Well, I'm going to compare it to the old system.

Old System: Read reviews online and throw my money blindly hoping I'll like the game.
New system: Try the game myself with a demo and see if I've enjoyed it enough that I want to purchase it.

Then I would say yes. I found Dark Lord, and Nyx Quest demos VERY tempting on buying the retail game, as apposed to not giving a s#$t when I couldn't try the demo.
So obviously it works, people are tempted, and demos are proven (from other systems with the times) that people are more tempted to buy it if they've tried it. It also helps keep quality up, as you can't make poo cause people can smell it before they pay for it.

So that means we all know after Christmas Nintendo will dump the who demo system and say it's not effective, and we'll go back to the DLC dark ages and blindly throw our money against the digital wall.

Hmmm, after seeing some gameplay of Bit.Trip Core, I have no idea which to get. They look equally awesome!

I prefer Core. I just love how they have a main part of the song in the level, and then use it with crazy beats later in the level. Plus I enjoyed the music more, and the gameplay felt more fun with the music.

But you couldn't go wrong with either. Both are great games.

nyxquest: more likely to buy. I had been interested in the game and demo convinced me it will be a fun game to play. The demo wasn't very long game me a good idea of the feel and atmosphere of the game, both of which I loved. The flying and gliding was cool plus I like the use of god power. Not sure when I'm gonna get it but definitely will at some point. probably within a month. I hope the demo spurs sales of this game as it is quite well designed even for the demo level I played.

I'd like a demo of lostwinds to compare this to. From the videos of the game it looks nice but it seems to overuse the whole wind thing seemingly making you kinda flick your character around with the wind to do any real jumps. Plus the overall design doesn't please me as much as nyxquests. However, actually playing would of course give me a better idea of the game.

How long is core? I heard Beat only has 3 levels, so I've already got 1/3 of the game. Little replay value is almost an instant turn-off for me (except in RPGs).

@StarKiller: Trust me dude, Beat will last you. I am still trying to finish it. I'm not sure you've got 1/3, I was under the impression the demo cuts short before the end of level boss. Am I wrong?

@ChickenDude: I'd love to partake in your thread, but unfortunately I bought them all long ago. Needless to say, I can't wait for the next batch of demo's.

Of the 5 demos, I already own FFCC and WoG. I've tried Nyx, and while it was a fun demo, I won't pay $10 when I know it's such a short game. I tried Bit.Trip, but didn't find it very interesting. I have yet to try Pokemon Rumble.

This isn't to say that demos can't have the desired effect - the Rhythm Heaven demo encouraged my purchase of the full retail game (albeit on clearance at Target for $7).

I look forward to seeing what else is offered up when these titles expire.

Probably. I don't really pay attention to WW, but I love the freeness of demos. I'll probably end up downloading as many as I can when I get back. If I really like them, I'll probably end up buying them, whereas before I would have just ignored them.

@Rezon

I also bought Rhythm Heaven because of the demo. Buy 2 get 1 free sale at Best Buy. Had lots of fun with it.

FFCC: Darklord - Was better than I thought, might buy
Nyx - Was as I expected, still not interested

More likely to buy them now because of the demos. In fact they're now on my list of get-soon's.

I already have Darklord, but Bit.Trip and NyxQuest seem to be really good.

I quite liked NyxQuest. Will definitely download that when I have money to spend on WiiWare games.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

Sneaker13

The WiiWare demo's didn't convinced me.
I already had NyxQuest (and love it). Everybody, go buy it.

I had high hopes for FFCC: My Life as a Darklord, but the demo disappoint. Guess it's ok and could go very deep in later levels, but at the moment it's not a game I will buy.

I never knew what to think about BEAT TRIP BEAT but now I've played the demo it was surprisingly and insanely fun. Still won't get it though. The length of the demo was good, but if I played it any longer, my brains would fry.

The DS demo's cost me some money though. After playing the demo's I immediately got Ninjatown and Lock's Quest and will get Soul Bubble and Prince of Persia in the near future.

Core is also three levels, and I get the feeling all of the games in the series will be.

But bear in mind that you don't have 1/3 of Beat. The demo consists of only about the first half of the first song, so you have more like 1/6. And believe me, you'll be doing plenty of replaying in order to just CLEAR the songs, and once you do, it's rewarding to come back and just ace the sections that used to give you nightmares.

Anyway, back on topic. And thanks all for contributing to this...it's very interesting reading.

Basically I know that demos will increase the sales of great games and (most likely) decrease the sales of lousy ones, but my main curiosity is about each of the demos specifically. I'm trying to get an idea of which demos are "working" and which aren't. Which ones lead you closer to a purchase, and which shove you away.

Don't ask why I'm fascinated by it...because I don't know. But I am, and your responses to each demo have made for good reading.

Ah, forgot about that one. Yep, the demo encouraged me to pick that one up as well. A great game.

Bit Trip Beat
Less likely to buy. It causes too much eyestrain.

World of Goo
I've tried the PC version and the WiiWare version. I like the PC version better (Mouse > Wiimote)

Pokemon Rumble
More likely to buy, though the 1500 point price tag makes me wary.

I haven't tried the other two yet.

The demo of Bit Trip Beat is so good, that I'm going to buy the game one day.
And that's all I tried.
