I saw Chronos, and I was thinking Chrono Trigger.........I was worng.
But the Word Chrono is Greek for Time.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
I loved jumping onto platforms and dodging/attacking enemies alternately between the top and bottom screens. Such a simple and yet awesomely realized mechanic.
Horrible heavy controls(in all permutations of controller and believe me, I tried 'em all) that lack any kind of intuitive 'feel', confusing gameplay, apparently arbitrary deaths/damage, self-consciously 'retro' graphics.
Well there are plenty of hardcore gamers who don't appreciate clunky, dated controls. I quite like the game for what it's worth (I bought the DSiWare version), but its flaws are obvious. You can't hide Chronos Twin behind the label of "hardcore" and expect people to lap it up without realising the game has some issues.
I was planning on getting this, didn't have the money, just tried the demo and I'm just not sure now.... the concept seems cool but the game is very clunky and the boss fight seemed easier than the normal enemies.:S

@tbd Yeah, I figured they were devs. I missed the hubbub after my post, did they admit their crimes or continue blindly defending their game? I was going to report my post to alert one of you guys.
@kkslider Hardly. Some indie games hide their low quality behind a veil of artsy hipster originality. Some are genuinely hard and fun.
And a huge amount of indie games are casual games.

I don't agree with your complaint against the controls at all, they worked fine for me. (And how can controls be "dated", anyway?) The game does have a few issues, such as a confusing HUD and a weird save system which saves your current health total along with your progress which could end up forcing you to play through an entire level starting with only one health, but they weren't enough to hamper my enjoyment of the game.
@accc Controls can be dated if a new standard of expectations has been set. Platformers have come a long way since the NES and SNES days. From memory, movement and jumping in Chronos Twin felt stiff, not even up to par with many Mega Drive games. Also, the points that Amorous Badger brought up are completely valid.
I'm not saying it's a bad game or that I didn't like it - just that it has its flaws and could have been thought out better. I was a little disappointed, but it was worth the price and I did enjoy it.
