Topic: Cave Story NL score, a 9 or 10?

I never played the original Cave Story, and frankly i don't know that much about it except that there's a lot of hype and praise swirling around over it. Well, seeing as its out today, the feedback should be out anytime.

I for one WILL wait for the reviews to come out before playing, but for those that have already experienced it, or for those who have kept up with the updates, do you think this fill finally be the 2nd game to get a 10/10 score on Nintendo Life? So far World of Goo is the only game to get that score. I'm wanting to hear everyone's opinion of this game.

I like Cave Story better than World of Goo... but they are TOTALLY different types of games.

Doesn't really matter to me what rating Cave Story gets here, but it'll be interesting to see. If you like this type of game, it's really well done. But I think that many people will be disappointed no matter what because there is a LOT of hype around this game, and at heart it's still the same indie experience it always was.

If you mean the second WiiWare game to get a 10/10, then yeah, I think it's possible. I'm thinking a 9's more likely, though.

Not disagreeing (though I haven't played Nyx yet), but I've just gotta add Mega Man 9 to that list. I'm still playing that game semi-religiously to this day, thanks to the brutally awesome endless mode, that I waited waaaaaay too long to discover. (Seriously...best DLC ever.)

Oh totally. That was the first game that really sold me on achievements/trophies and the DLC is indeed spectacular. It's also, in my opinion, the absolute best game to do speed runs on.

And as for the subject at hand, I think Cave Story more than deserves the 10/10 (especially with the way they throw around 9's on this site--not bashing the reviews, but the scores are sometimes a little suspect).

Yeah, i was referring to World Of　Goo being the only Wiiware game to get a 10/10, though i'm not arguing that mm9 was great, i felt that both mm9 and mm10 were given very fair scores at 9/10.

I do play mm9 often enough, but no game on the Wiiware service filled me with that extra bit of wonder like World of Goo.
As for other Wiiware games, I'm not a fan of the bit.trip series. I do have the first one, and pull it out sometimes when im bored, but there's just not a lot there for me. It seems like its a game that fits a specific niche perfectly, and the rest of us, it just fits very well. Nyxquest...I could see it being an 8 or a 9. I did see some problems in the demo. It was gorgeous and fun, but a little flat.

I had big hopes personally for Max and the Magic Marker, and it IS fun, but again, a little flat at times.
