Topic: Bit.Trip Runner First Impressions

Rubbish. Bonus levels top up your score; yes sometimes they're fun, but the main aspect of them has always been that they're an extra and failure doesn't cost you a life or end your game - they certainly aren't an entitlement.

With regard to "50 challenges," well, the stage is divided in two: main challenge and bonus challenge, so it's technically accurate to count them into the total.

Not rubbish, your right that the main aspect of bonus levels is that it's an extra, that failure doesn't cost you a life or end your game. But here it's not extra and means the end of your game. Not finishing the bonus level with all the gold means not getting !! and no Perfects.

Sure, so even the developers count them as seperate, but basically there are still 36 levels, since the bonus levels aren't divided and not finishing it with all the gold means no !! and no Perfects.

If they aren't fun, why do you care about playing them so much? It's not like the game is lacking in ordinary levels to keep you busy with.

I like them myself. It would be nice if beating the game unlocked the bonus levels for separate play that didn't contribute to the high score list, I guess, but I don't see myself taking advantage of it even if so. They wouldn't be as fun out of context. Playing through the bonus level once real quick is a blast, but playing it on repeat without the awesome music and visuals of a normal level? That's not Bit Trip anymore.

Well I've beaten all of those levels with all the gold. So only the bonus levels remain because I want !! and Perfects.

That's why I don't like the bonus levels. No awesome music and visuals like the other levels. I wouldn't mind if it would be just a normal bonus level, but you have to play through them perfectly to get !! and Perfects.

So you want to play through a bunch of levels you don't like... for an extra punctuation?

Good lord. And just for the record I LIKE the bonus challenges, regardless of whether or not I can clear them because they're like a fun version of Pitfall. So they are indeed FUN and therefore NOT CRAP. And note, this is not an opinion, this is FACT!

I spent 1:20 on 1-11. I haven't finished it yet, but I was near the end (saw a video on youtube). Hopefully world 2 will be as easy as everybody says.....

Jup, I love golden coins in my backloggery . And who knows what happens if you managed to get !! and Perfects at every level. Maybe some extra levels, a music player or unlockable characters. Only one way to find out .

Jeez, where does this attack mode come from? If you like it, that's fine by me, but I my view, they could have been much better.

That's not a fact, but an opinion .

They already said Runner would not have other playable characters, and it's not really in Bit Trip's style to have unlockable secrets that demand perfection. The best I'd hope for would be maybe a new title screen, but I doubt that.

I haven't played any of the other Bit Trip games (apart from the demo), so I didn't know that. A new title screen would be nice, I would also love some sort of Jukebox for the music, that would be cool.

i would only agree with this if (a) we're talking about the final three levels of the game, and (b) if i honestly cared that much about perfecting the entire game (which i totally don't, lol). :3 I'm just in it for the overall experience, and in that sense it's a freakin' masterpiece IMO.

I also second your wish for some sort of Jukebox, and if it had all the songs available from Runner and the previous games as well, now that would be worth beating my head against a wall in those last few levels for. ho-ly crap.

Do you get anything special for getting all perfects?

I think everybody has had trouble on 1-11 and 1-Boss...I know I did. Yes, World 2 was MUCH easier for me, and by far it is my favorite zone out of the three. I beat the Zone 2 boss on my first try, yet it took, i'd say at least 30+ minutes to beat 1-Boss. Beware though, Zone 3 seems pretty tough so far.
