By the way, JUST Giga mind blowing? Try Giga with CommandgirlVideo as a helper!

Or Jr. Melchkin. That power-up blew my mind.

And we haven't even touched on how the scenery is all robotic. Maybe Timbletot is taking over, and CV doesn't like it. Or maybe CV's hatred for Timbletot is clouding his mind, and CV is only seeing what he wants to see. All of the enemies he's shooting might not be as disfigured as they seem.

And anyone notice the huge words that will appear midway through a level? I don't remember them, but it helped me understand what CV is going through. And helps us understand his feelings. At least he has his friends to help him through his anger, and helps him deal with it.

SPOILER:
On the title screen, notice how the Fate line starts medium, goes high, and then drops down? Read all the level names. At medium, Determination shoes us how CV wants to confront Timbletot, then Patience shows us that he is trying to deal with him. Then the slope starts going down at Desperation, since CV is resorting to violence. The slope keeps going down at Frustration since it is hard to deal with someone as narrow minded as Timpletot. The slope goes down more to Anger, since CV knows what he has done, and figures he can't stop now, with Timbletot so close. Then he finally reaches Fall. Rock bottom.

Hopefully he realizes his mistakes, died at the level 6 boss, working on it though.

Gah, I love this game.

Double post for excitement.

Beat it. Not sure where it would go in my list of favs, but it's amazing (they all are). Though the ending left more story to be wanted. It just said what I had already guessed. But the cutscene was heartwrenching nonetheless. I could easily write an essay on all the meaning in the Bit. Trip series.
MORESPOILERS:
But the end after the credits was awesome. Guessing something along the lines of Bit. Trip Man/Human/Being or something along those lines.

i have no clue what you guys are talking about storywise. i didn't even know these games had a story. anyway, my favorite powerup is the white robot that shoots curved lines. when you're leveled up it's like you keep your normal machine gun but it kills everything so much faster

So late last night I realized something: seemingly almost every gameplay aspect of Runner and Fate have something to do with the positive and negative vibe of them, respectively. I'll explain.
NOTE I haven't finished Fate, so there could be spoiler-y stuff that I don't know about yet.

The obvious part is the music and visuals. Runner=Positive. Fate=Negative. I think you figured that out by now. Moving on.

The fact that you keep on running with out ever stopping for anything in Runner shows determination. The fact that you can generally move just whenever (aside from the moving camera) and can even go back shows a bit of hesitation.

Runner shows perserverence. Dying is not made to be a big deal. When you die in Runner, you're instantly transported back to the beginning of a level. And within seconds, you're back on your merry way. Whereas in Fate every death results in a big GAME OVER screen, and you do not restart immedietely.

The fact that you can only move along a rail in Fate (or he has limited movement, if you will) shows that perhaps CV feels limits in himself. While Runner is still fairly linear, there are still multiple paths you can take, and therefore provides more freedom.... due to the fact that CV feels freedom in Runner.

His use of guns and the obliveration (spelling?) of everything standing in his way shows that he is very angry and upset. I don't think there's a Runner comparison to this, unless you say "He's not using guns," but I don't think that counts.

What caused this dramatic change? It happened at the end of Runner, when....
SPOILER ABOUT THE END OF RUNNER STARTING NOW
Mingrawn, in his creepy robot voice, goes "You. Are. Not. A. Man!" CV became ticked off to no end, and now he will stop at nothing to prove that he is a man, or perhaps even show off his "manlyness." (kind of like how certain young teens just play COD to feel more mature? Not saying all teens do that just saying some do......).

So, in conclusion, Commander Video is pretty much both depressed and perhaps even psycotic in Fate. So there.

@SuperMarioFan Good stuff. Have you noticed the words "NO REASON" and "NO WILL" flashing on the screen sometimes (I noticed them early in level 3). Is CV going suicidal?

Wow, I haven't noticed those, I guess I have to start paying more attention!

Finally saw some of them. They were hard to read but I believe I saw "No Reason," "No Love," and "No Friends." That last one's particularly concerning considering, you know, he constantly has friends providing him with upgrades for his weapon, he clearly has friends.... unless there's something I haven't seen yet?! (But of course don't tell me whether I'm right or not, lol, I'd like to remain spoiler-free).

I know for a fact Level 5 says "NO ONE", it appears around the point where you begin that really long descent toward the lava below (and i passed it a few times while replaying the level to get to the boss, hahaha).

i'm so sad that i'm going to beat this game tomorrow. only one more in the series after this one...
all good things must end, i suppose

am i the only one who hates level 4? it seems to bring out all the frustrating elements the most. there are so many flat horizontal stretches where a bullet comes at you sideways, right along the line, and without being able to move up or down you just have to take the hit. enemies popping up on the edge of the screen without warning when you're trying to grab a quick powerup also gets really annoying, i wish they would come in from off screen instead of just spawning right at the edge. (i'm just mad because i can't beat it)

I think when you dig deeper into the psyche of CommanderVideo you find a lot of self-esteem and abandonment issues. Perhaps he was not held enough as a child or was chastised far too often. It's unclear exactly what led to his current state of mind, but I think we can all agree that he's probably in serious need of a hug and possibly a Reese Cup.

dude wtf... has our beloved Commander Video transcended into something more human now that he's succumbed to the dark side, kinda? i'm not quite sure what to think about the story at the moment (i need to play it through again to refresh everything in my mind really), but it all struck me as odd, probably because i'm still trying to understand what's going on. Did he sacrifice himself to finally defeat Mingrawn (which is very possible; that entire final section of the boss is basically a race to kill him before he kills you), or was he so angry that he rage-killed him and died in the explosion? The names of the levels seem to favor the latter, chronicling his gradual descent through the dark side of emotion and stuff, but that transformation at the very end, idk. it was kinda angelic/positive in nature IMO; it didn't feel like an appropriate consequence for a rage-kill.
