Seems like Nintendo would do this with one of their own games though, like an Art Style. Free games are a good way to make people aware of online services and get people in the shop. There's a decent shoot-em-up offered free on XBLA that I like, and once I told my friend about it he ended up getting other games, too. So this is not completely unrealistic, but yea, it's probably just a lack of pricing info being interpreted by Nintendo's lazy system as "free."

My friend made that game while working at MS... Now he's a dev.

Adam	13. Posted: Wed 3rd Jun 2009 17:21 BST Oh, awesome! What development team is he on? I want to make sure I play whatever he makes next. Aegis Wing was quite fun. My friend and I loved linking ships for certain parts. It was really great quality, especially for a free game from Microsoft.
