Xenoblade Chronicles, probably the longest but not the best Wii game, has finally reached the eShop after four months ago it was released for the New 3DS. Once rare and uncommon, now it's easy to have and to play. I have still to beat the original version, though. I'm sure most of the Wii version owners have some appreciation to its save file. After all, how many hours have been invested in completing the game, or just in the attempt to? So, is it possible to play the eShop version with the original Wii save file? I know in theory it is possible, but I want to know if somebody knows for sure.

I really don't like the navigation bar of Nintendo Life continuously reappearing while browsing!!

I wonder if anyone finds that when pushing the gamepad control stick up fully the character starts running towards the screen instead of away from it?

What? That sounds like something that they would've bug tested

It seems very odd. Doesn't happen on any other game or with a classic controller.

I can forgive it though. It's Xenoblade!

Can someone comment on the difference between the 3DS and Wii version? Is it worth owning again? I played the Wii version years back but I only own the 3DS version now. How good does this look blown up onto a massive screen?

it looks very good on 3DS, but that's absolutely nothing compared to playing it on a console. i bought the 3DS version when it came out but had to buy the Wii version soon after because i knew i needed to own it and knew i'd play through it again and wanted the full experience.

to be quite honest, it partly ruins it for you, if you play it on console and know how much better it looks. i can clearly understand what i read people talking about prior to playing the game. the grand scale of the game is hard to appreciate on the 3DS. i think there are advantages to the portable version though, i think it's a more intimate experience especially if you game on the 3DS a lot, it is an amazing world to be able to have portable.

Have you played it on a big HD TV? How does it upscale?

Wii games don't really upscale on Wii U. It simply blows up the standard definition signal to a high definition resolution, similarly to how you can watch low resolution YouTube videos in full screen mode. Wii games generally look just a little sharper, which could be attributed to the higher quality signal being sent over via HDMI, but there is no increase in native resolution. Wii games tend to look as good as they've ever been, but after being spoiled by high definition games on Wii U, the low resolution is clearly apparent. 2D games tend to look good regardless, though 3D games tend to look better when on-screen subjects are closer to the screen. With the Super Mario Galaxy games for example, distant subjects look like piles of fuzzy, indistinct dots, which is my only gripe. Open world games generally look quite good, however.

"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"
