Topic: Why's the unscheduled maintenance of the eshop taking so long?

The Wii U eshop has been down for over 10 hours now due to unscheduled maintenance so what on earth is taking Nintendo so long bringing the services back online and why haven't they mentioned anything to the public? Is it a huge update or was the eshop hacked? What are your thoughts?

Hmm, I was wondering the same thing myself...I hope it wasn't hacked or anything. Maybe the eshop is overloaded by masses of people downloading One Piece: World Red...LOL.

I was wondering the same thing too. Been trying to get on since 6:30 est to download One Piece.
My logical side says that the server could of crash, my illogical side says the eshop is being plundered by pirates.

It must have been the Straw Hats!

Huge update is coming... that's my guess.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

Could be something to do with the recent clam that the Wii U has been hacked. They could be setting up an update to counter it.

As @ogo79 said, the SNS-RZ-USA is a prime giveaway that it's not a legit retail cart.
And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)

Yoshi

They're laying groundwork for SNES and GBA VC. Cross-buy is becoming a reality!

Why do I set such high expectations? It was probably some bozo from Nintendo who thought it was funny to flip a switch and shut down the eShop. What a jerk. -_-

Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Super Mario Maker (Wii U) | Yoshi's Woolly World (Wii U) | The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes (3DS)

Maybe their getting ready to release GC and N64 games for the VC. Or their just doing something to make the eshop better in someway.

Don't be ridiculous.
They're adding a Mother Trilogy combo pack.

Stop right there. It's obvious that they're adding a Super Smash Bros. 3DS Demo.

It's obvious that they're merging both eShops completely, so you can buy Wii U games on your 3DS and it will start downloading on your Wii U and vice-versa. The catch is that you still have to buy Virtual Console games twice for each system. Now both versions are visible on one system!

No, they're moving the release of SSB 3DS to tomorrow, and it will be free for a week.

The eshop is down so that everyone at nintendo can work to finish smash asap.

Yet I could totally see Nintendo doing it too. Anyways, maybe it has something to do with the Elite gifts for Club Nintendo?
