Topic: UCraft goes multiplatform

Due to the failed kickstarter campaign, UCraft has officially gone multiplatform (likely PS4 I'd imagine). I guess we failed to give Nexis Games our hearts. Still looking forward to this game, it just sucks that the idea of a Minecraft clone on Wii U was bashed so bad. I wish Nexis Games luck, and I hope they end up making UCraft the best it can be on all platforms.

I don't think anyone bashed the game simply for being a Minecraft clone. We bashed because it looked like an awful rip-off.

...and how Nexis handled the project in general.

I'm even more confused of why it would be even better to make UCraft multi-platform (such as PC/PS/XBox). Why would releasing it on another platform that would already have Minecraft (and probably multiple clones) be a good idea?

I was disappointed by how they handled this project. First they announce it coming to Wii U, then started a kickstarter to fund it for Wii U. Why did you announce it for Wii U if you hadn't funded it. Now that the Kickstarter has failed they are making it multiplatform? Why did you need kickstarter in the first place then? If you have the funds to make it multiplatform then why did you need the funds to make it for Wii U. Kickstarter is being used as a way to pre-order, rather than a way to help projects get made.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

...Who's going to buy that when they have Minecraft? Even after Microsoft bought Minecraft there still exists a PS4 version of Minecraft, if the severs go off that sucks but we still know its a version of the game that people want.

As for losing the exclusiveness of this or losing it in general:

The new name will be:

  • Ucraft (obviously for Wii U)
  • 4craft (for PS4)
  • 1craft (for Xone)

They didn't just run to Kickstarter. Based on their Kickstarter page it sounds like the money was to help them deliver the game in a more timely manner. This would likely mean faster updates on Wii U and not just PC.

There seems to be no "they" in Nexis. According to the web site, it's a single-man company.

Based on what I saw, they went to kickstarter to fund a project that they already announced was coming out. After the project had come out they were going to use the PC version for quick updates that would act as the base for the Wii U version (since it is more work to submit an update on Wii U than PC) I understand the part about the updates, what I don't understand is why announce a game as coming to Wii U then a few weeks later go to kickstarter asking people to fund the game on Wii U (since they don't have the money themselves) and after that fails announce the game for even more platforms which will require even more money. Are they going to be doing a Kockstarter for that now too? It just doesn't make much sense to me

So if they have enough funds to create the game for multiple consoles what was the point of the kickstarter. Were we just paying for exclusivity or am I missing something here. Also wasn't this game already set to come out in December. This dev is being very strange.
