I believe the developers are counting on for this to be a 'so bad it's hilarious'-type of game. You know, get a few semi-known YouTube let's-players to play and mock it relentlessly thus gathering just enough interest for some to buy it. It's better for them to be outrageously bad than mediocre and be lost in the mass. The developers make a quick buck for a game they half-arsed in a month and the players get something to bash and wonder about for a pocket change. It's a fair change as long as anyone isn't honestly expecting a riveting experience. And of course of there's the threat of the marketplace being flooded with games each more terrible than the last, all eager to rake in few random dollars.
Even if this was the case, which I'm pretty sure it isn't, there are far better ways to do a 'so bad its good' game. Don't believe me? Look up Deadly Premonition, the game is so over the top and ridiculously bad but ends up being great. The developer here really seems proud of what he has done and its kinda sad.
However, I really don't think this game is purposely bad...its just bad.

Well I dunno... looking at the game play video makes it hard to believe that anyone involved in that didn't know they were making a terrible game. It's not like they had some publisher flagellating them to stay on schedule and release an unfinished product; no, the team (or was it just a one guy) decided "Well, this looks ready for release. Oh, how much joy it shall spread to the world!" I mean the 'durr it was a dream all along!' twist ending could have been written by an elementary school pupil.
Honestly, it seems like the developers looked at the popularity of Slender Man and the likes with flashlight and collecting random objects around a dark forest and wanted to cash in. Deadly Premonition it the very least appeared to have some original ideas and effort put into it, plus the graphics weren't eye-blindlingly bad.
Currently on the plate:
Mount and Blade: Warband – Napoleonic Wars
Chivalry
Super Mario 3D World – Finishing the last few levels.
Mario Kart 8
The game was supposed to be made with a crowd funded $5000. They only got $377 and I suppose they did what they could with that and are planning to build on that with pocket change and the profit from people who buy it.
I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite
Is there a video of a Let's Play or something of this game? Sounds funny, but I can't find anything.
The game is so unfinished and so short that it can be beaten in 5 minutes.
The longest video I saw took 16+ minutes.
I bought it and played it and (with hearty exploring and some confusion in the Construction Valley) it took me 30 minutes.

I can't wait for newer eShop games to come out and dust this one under the carpet.

If the updates and DLC are able to make this game a proper game, it could very well be something worth talking about.
As it is, it's a bad game, but it's entirely playable. Add in some options to tweak your experience, a Slenderman-like monster, more levels, and up the visuals a bit; and you've got yourself a pretty decent $2 horror game.
Something everyone seems to forget is this isn't a game that was made with a massive budget to cash in on microtransactions or whatever. This was a failed IndieGoGo game that went right ahead with development in spite of only getting less than 10% of their intended goal.

I have respect for them finishing it. I have respect that they did this despite the low money.
But for God's sake, put a little pride into it.

I picked this up on launch day because the creator was a pretty nice guy. The only real gripe I had with it was there wasn't an off TV play option. I really liked the music. And I think the game would be better as a psychological horror story instead of tossing in some random monster or something just for the sake of it.

And I can't wait for new, better Nintendolife users to come along and overshadow you. It's called respect dude
The game obviously didn't respect any of us when it was released, half backed and unfinished. I love the indie market, but this was atrocious, I usually don't have anything bad to say about other games. And the fact that some people think that the updates will make this game magically better is beyond me, if anything the bad will just keep piling up. Go look at Gem Collectors and its DLC pack and til me that's a quality game.
I respect developers who try their hardest and try to put out a quality title they can be proud of, or at least through their game showed some sort of heart put into it. I can't see this here. I don't respect people that just throw unfinished products out of the market...or the pompous ones (Phil Fish and Jonathon Blow).

Upon further inspection of the game's Indiegogo page it's obvious I was a bit rash earlier. The developer does seem like a nice guy who gives everything he has and was still pretty upbeat even though the fundraising failed miserably. That's not to say this excuses him for releasing this atrocity; only that his motives weren't as cynical as I initially thought. Indie developers ought to be given a bit of leeway and not judge them like AAA-titles, but like a wise man once said: "Enough is enough!". A game that's clearly lacking in narrative, gameplay, UI; heck, just about everything besides music must be cruelly called out and not be gently patted on the head just because it's from an independent developer.
