Soooo.... Yeah. The Letter.

The game that started as an indiegogo kick-starter campaign that failed but got released anyway.

Has anyone else downloaded it? I did, I could only play it a bit and it's... Rather lacking.

Right now it seems to be more like a paid beta than a full game, as it seems the developer plans to update it along the way as people decide to buy it and give feedback. Kinda like an extended kick starter campaign where you get the game immediately after you donate.

Yeah, I would get this if it comes to the aussie eShop (probably will be just US only) and won't play it until the final update... I'm interested in how this will develop over time

Maybe it sounds weird, but a low price point will often make me skip a game. I see the $2 tag and I think "... 2 bucks? What's wrong with it?" and then pass. I'm more likely to buy a game for $5 than for $2.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

Eel

Well, maybe if the game sells and develops its price will be raised with time.

Like that spin the bottle game.

It's not a total waste of two dollars, but it is incredibly bare bones and beta-like.

At least there's no hilarious physics killing the mood I guess.

I saw a playthrough where someone beat the game in six minutes. Even for two dollars I'd feel ripped off.

I don't know how you guys can even stomach it, my brother got it just for the heck of it....its bad, like this is extremely freaking bad, unacceptably bad, this should not be on the eShop.

No pause buttons.
Textures never match.
Assets are obviously borrowed from engines, especially the trees.
It points out everything you are supposed to do.
The music is unfitting.
The title card is compressed like no other.
The grammar is atrocious.
The story is rushed and makes little sense.
The ending...I seriously haven't even wrapped my head around what happened.
You can beat the game in around 5 minutes....that was on our FIRST play-through.
Why do the hidden letters glow? That defeats the purpose of hidden.
The game shouldn't need to tell me to pick up the letter to open a door.
There is too much text in general, and I'm not talking about the letters, the freaking writing is only necessary because they didn't have a clever way to go to the next area without looking for objects.
Don't put a weapon in your game and then not have no enemies in it.
A teddy bear, that I think says "help me, could be scary....if it did anything or provided a threat.
Level design is all over the place, it doesn't resemble at all what they are supposed to be.
There isn't much of a game to begin with.

I seriously hate that this game is on the Wii U eShop that has given us masterpieces such as Shovel Knight, Child of Light and 1001 Spikes

I don't know why so many people are being apologetic for it, even if it was made by 2 people...so?! Super Meat Boy was too, Cave Story was done by one person! This obviously wasn't ready to be released and had very little effort put into it, this is bad even for $2. You could have got Edge and Swords and Soldiers for the price of this game. This is the equivalent of Big Rigs for the Wii U. This might be okay for messing with an engine, but not as a full digital release. Nintendo Life is going to give this a 1/10. I can't see any other outcome.

I love indies baby, but I will not let this one slide.

I believe the developers are counting on for this to be a 'so bad it's hilarious'-type of game. You know, get a few semi-known YouTube let's-players to play and mock it relentlessly thus gathering just enough interest for some to buy it. It's better for them to be outrageously bad than mediocre and be lost in the mass. The developers make a quick buck for a game they half-arsed in a month and the players get something to bash and wonder about for a pocket change. It's a fair change as long as anyone isn't honestly expecting a riveting experience. And of course of there's the threat of the marketplace being flooded with games each more terrible than the last, all eager to rake in few random dollars.

Currently on the plate:
Mount and Blade: Warband – Napoleonic Wars
Chivalry
Super Mario 3D World – Finishing the last few levels.
Mario Kart 8

I don't like the idea of having
5 minute games (The Letter),
15 minute games (Blok Drop U),
or 30 minute games (Color Zen Kids).

If a game lacks content so much,
then there should be at least a redeeming point that makes it
1. valuable (deep gameplay, addicting mechanics, amazing graphics and music, great storytelling, shiny polish, multiplayer)
or 2. replayable (collectibles, unlockables, highscores, speedruns).

Even the shortest game shouldn't be over in less than 2 hours or I'm automatically disappointed.
A low price is no substitution for a game lacking... a game!

I feel tempted by the fact that the game is just BAD (like BAD BAD), the low price point ($2 for GARBAGE BAD BAD game), and the promise of free DLC and updates. I feel like this can turn out two ways...

1. I get the game now and have a downright terrible game I can show off to friends as just a horribly awful piece of trash that we can laugh at and that changes depending on what the updates and DLC do (whether it gets better or worse).

2. I don't get the game and the updates and DLC end up making the game quite decent and the price jumps up to $10 or so and I can no longer easily jump on it.

I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite

I'm on YouTube.

Oh man this game sounds amazing. Not only is it just laughably bad, it actually looks like something I would make. (Every now and then I enjoy throwing together purposely bad and stupid games. In fact, I'm making one for Petit Computer right now!) I'll probably never get myself to buy it though.

I like makin' games!
Future Pinball games!
Petit Computer games!!
and SmileBASIC games!
Waiting for Kirby Air Ride 2. One day, it will come. One day...
