I've had a few problems with some of the demos in this promotion.
Soul Axiom had some terrible lag, and seemed to be running at sub 30fps a lot of the time, especially when looking left and right.
Rive ran pretty smoothly most of the time but had frequent spikes of 1fps lag.
Extreme Exorcism was stuck on the initial loading screen, although I could hear the sounds of the game after a little while.
Typoman was also stuck on the initial loading screen, and after about thirty to forty seconds of waiting the screen went black. All that I could do was exit to the home screen.
Lovely Planet had no sound whatsoever.
I don't know if these are common problems, but I haven't seen them mentioned elsewhere so I'm assuming it's a problem with my Wii U. I've noticed lag with other eShop games like Little Inferno and lag spikes when entering new areas in Teslagrad. I was playing the E3 demos on the gamepad if that matters, and my Wii U is refurbished from the Nintendo store. I'm trying to decide if I should send my Wii U in for repairs while the warranty is still valid or not. Thanks for any replies!
Extreme Exorcism and Typoman (at least the demos) have to be played on the tv. I also thought they're not running when trying them on the gamepad. The other things you mentioned seem to be normal.
My favorites so far are Rive and Soul Axiom (a higher framerate would be great tbh.) Typoman and that Sonic-like game follow closely.
Okay, if these things are normal then that's fine I guess I've just been a bit paranoid because I got it refurbished and I don't want to find out something's wrong after the warranty's run out. I would have tried playing the games with the TV on but my family were using it at the time. I don't get what's up with Soul Axiom though, it's borderline unplayable and definitely not enjoyable with the frame rate it plays at. Thanks for replying everybody!
It's definitely not as smooth as Master Reboot, but Soul Axiom was hardly close to unplayable, at least for me. All of these demos represent games in various degrees of completeness. I suspect the final version of Soul Axiom will be comparable to Master Reboot.
I hope the games that don't make real use of the GamePad will be mirrored with full audio support. I was bothered that some weren't.
