Hey!
I'm Fletcher - Half of Mobot, the team that made Paper Monsters.
(And, yeah we're that small or it wouldn't have taken a year)
Since both of us are lifetime Nintendo nerds, I'm always debating rather or not it's appropritate, being a dev to post on here.
I decided what the heck. I play a ton of Mario Kart and could use some more friends anwyays.
SO... about Paper Monsters.
I just wanted to open a thread in case anyone had any questions or feedback. We listen and I thought rather than keep lurking, i'd just hop on.
While it may not be big N game in size or quality, we think it's a pretty big feat for the amount of people involved and were super excited to final get it in your hands!!
That being said, there are gonna some bugs here and there and room for improvement. We are listening and are already preparing an update with a few fixes.
Common question we've been seeing on threads here and there including miiverse.
1. When I first turn into a submarine I'm stuck, is this a bug? - NO, shoot the blocks (ZR) - Our bad, we should have put a tutorial there or waited to have you shoot.
2. Is this the same game as on iPhone and google? No, it's based on the original and we reused alot of the layouts but it's built brand new. It's certainly not a quick money grab or it would't have taken a year!
3. Ok, then what's new? (we've seen this question hundreds of times on the daily)
Graphics (all the realtime lighting and new texturing)
New space zone with new powerups including jetpack and shooting lasers.
Alot of the old zones have new levels too.
Everything is all in one playable overworld now. We took our inpiration from Mario64 where you have to unlock levels as you go. This puts way more value in collecting.
Thanks for taking the time to explain your game, accepting feedback and joining a community. I wish all developers were like that. I am interested in your game, and if I pick it up I will let you know here what I thought about it.
I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.
Yeah there are a lot of little glitches here and there. Luckily most are just quirky.
If we do well enough here maybe we can get better beta testers.
The only real showstopper has been a freeze on one of the mini games. I'm so glad it wasnt on a boss or something.
Anyways, we are working on an update right now but, it can take a few weeks to push it through the pipes.
UK... we are already done and have our PEGI stuff in order. We are just working our the release details now but, soon. very soon!

This is the game all mobile ports should aspire to be. A gorgeous looking title, and with new content also! Not too far into it yet, but such a cute game.
Why release a game that started on mobile devices on a home console? Wouldn't the 3DS have been a more natural recipient?
Not that I'm certain, but I'd guess the engine they were familiar with only supported Wii U. Though the game does make a lot of sense for the 3DS as well.

I'm in two minds about this game, it looks great but I've got so many platformers to play all ready. Luckily I'm in the UK so I have so time to decide.
