WiiWareWave

First off, let me say that this game is extremely humourous, however the controls in the game are among the worst I've ever experienced which says alot since I've played some really bad games and have almost never been unable to adjust to the game's controls before. It's a shame because the game is actually quite interesting and would get a 7/10 - 8/10 if not for the controls. Honestly I can't see myself giving the game more than a 6/10 even if everything else were perfect.

What do you guys think about the game so far?

I played it on PC and really enjoyed myself. I only didn't like the controls at the end. Everywhere else the controls were a lot of fun. I am wondering how it works on Wii U since analog triggers were a pretty big deal for it.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Analog Triggers would alleviate the issue, but sadly the Wii U doesn't have that as an option.

Octodad was fantastic. I think the wobbly controls were on purpose, so I'm not going to complain about that.

My biggest issues were the bad audio in the aquarium and the occasional freeze in the frame rate throughout the game. Otherwise it's great

I am debating on repurchasing this, it is just so much fun on my PC and my Wife could play it easier on the TV. I will have to see after I get paid... on the 11th

Has anybody else had some really bad frame rate issues with this game? Most of the time it's pretty alright but sometimes it'll drop ridiculously low, like in the bit with all the rollers on the giant octopus climbing section. I've also noticed a lot of stuttering.

I've been debating over whether or not to download this game, along with Slender. I'm not a PC or mobile gamer, so I've never really had the opportunity to play either of them until now that they've released on the Wii U eShop. Are they worth the purchase? Or at least Octodad? The game looks like it'd be pretty hilarious, but I'm on the fence about it.

When I heard this was coming to the WiiU, it was one less reason I needed to get a PS4 (again), this is the first time I've heard of horrible controls. That kind of worries me, I hate when I have to fight with a game that wants to argue in any sense to get it to do what it's suppose to do. It's just not fun.

@Not_Soos: I totally recommend Octodad. It is a fun, if short, experience. I haven't played the Wii U version but I know the PC version is great. I would expect the Wii U version to be about the same.

@Dankykong: I actually found the clunky controls to be part of the charm in the game. It only really frustrated me at the end when they expected precision.

@ProudasaPeacock: I noticed the same thing as well. Overall it's not too bad of an issue. The controls on the other hand could definitely use some changes, but at least I'm finally getting used to them.

Octodad's controls are alright.
I'm especially fond of the hilarious co-op controls.
It's the audio/voiceover that is sometimes just.... muted.... and could use an update.
The framerate is ok, but I experienced stuttering in dark rooms with realtime light effects.

Slender: The Arrival is surprisingly good. Content, audio, story, atmosphere is all well made, especially for the price.

I recommend both.

@SKTTR I noticed the muted voices the first time I played on my tv, it seemed like as soon as you moved a few feet away from a character you couldn't hear them at all. I played it again today on the gamepad and I could hear them easily from quite far away, I dunno what's up with that.

Aren't the bad QWOP-y controls kinda the point?

The game is designed around those controls, so I'm not complaining. There are tricks to use to make his movements better like mashing the left and right triggers back and forth.

Honestly, everyone I talk to says that they hate the controls. Where's the problem? I've played Octodad many times on PC with my XOne controller and had no problem AT ALL. I can move around perfectly, I can move my hands (eh... tentacles, I should say) around easily, I have no problem. Not gonna buy it on WiiU, too, though.

@GoldenGamer88 the problem is that the Wii U Gamepad doesn't have pressure sensitive shoulder buttons which makes the controls even more wonky then they were intended to be.

@LztheQuack: The problem with that is that'll ware out your analogue sticks and no offense, but I can't afford $125 to replace my Wii U Gamepad so I do everything I can to prevent it from getting damaged or worn out due to excessive button mashing or use.
