Topic: Nintendo Needs to Make More Unique Wii U eShop Games

With the recent announcement of Pushmo World. I came into this moment of hype that ran out, only minutes after.
Reason: It's just one more unoriginal Nintendo eShop game for Wii U eShop, and I cannot tolerate it no longer.
Each and every Wii U eShop exclusive (Save for Wii U Panorama View and Wii Street U) take advantage of at least 1 previous Nintendo IP in a large manor.
Pokemon Rumble U is the third Pokemon Rumble game in the series. And even then, it's based around Pokemon.
Wii Sports Club Is a remake of the 2006 freebie, only now it's in HD. But speaking rather personally, I think the visuals aren't even impressive (Except for Golf).
NES Remix Is the biggest culprit though, taking advantage of 28 NES titles, all of which "coincidentally" are able to purchase.
Do I even need to speak about Dr. Luigi? This makes it the 6th version of Dr. Mario you can buy on either eShop, Wii U or 3DS [GB, NES, (Not so) Online RX, Express and Dr. Wario for Warioware Inc].
And finally, Pushmo World. Which is, of course, a sequel to Pushmo, ironically one of the 3DS' first ever original titles coming from Nintendo.

It's sad, because by the year and half mark there were a good amount of eShop games that were original that were revealed or released for the 3DS. (Sakura Samurai, Kersploosh, Ketzal's Corridors, Dillon's Rolling Western, Freakyformes, Harmoknight)

I thought eShop games was the best opportunity for Nintendo to take risks with their games. E3 is coming up, and my greatest wish is that we see at least 1 unique Wii U eShop game from them.

Please tell me I'm not the only one dissatisfied that Nintendo, a company with a large amount of dev teams, and connections cannot manage to make a unique eShop game for their unique console.

glad you've already play pushimo world and in doing so are qualified to say it has no new features

Yes it does. Puzzles with the new features will not be sharable with the 3DS.

I don't need to play Pushmo World to know that it isn't an original Wii U IP

Is that the case? I apologize, but I still stand by this thread 100%

E3 should hopefully give us a wave of new IP

You're right to say Nintendo should probably try to make some eShop IPs, but wrong to discredit the ones that are already there.

Pushmo is still a new IP, and a successful one at that, so it makes sense that it will make the jump to Wii U.
The other ones are reiterations, but that doesn't mean you can discredit them, especially for new players.

Just wait and see what Nintendo has at E3. Maybe they'll make an eShop game you like.

Indeed, which is what people wanted all the time. Now it's a third game for a new IP for Nintendo and people say they're not doing new IP's.
But I get what the OP is saying. Nintendo can make really nice entries into the Wii U eShop like it has done for 3DS (especially with the streetpass games) and yet it doesn't (yet).

I think it has to do with them focusing on the large games, having VC like the GBA games (which are basically eshop games) and giving the space to indies.

You only need one. If you don't have any, just get the latest version or the cheapest version. Or if you really don't care, just get WarioWare.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

It's the fact that they decided they need resources for a 6th Dr. Mario game that peeves me off. Arika makes this game, and they also made a creative hit like Endless Ocean, Nintendo can use those brains to get them to make something new and engrossing, instead of another Dr. Mario.

I would like another game in the Donkey '94 / Mario vs Donkey Kong style. (Not bothered about the puzzle ones).

Problem with VC is I have played nearly all of the Nintendo stuff I am bothered about to death. (Quite a lot of what I would like to try is on the PAL Wii VC but I want the 60hz version).

actualy i enjoyed dr luigi much more than dr mario rx due to improved online and the on pad only virus buster. i'm actualy expecting an endless ocean u to be anounced in the next six months btw.

i love wii sports club. granted, i didn't play it much on the wii. i also like dr. luigi but again didn't play other renditions.

i've had lots of fun wth stars pinball, bit trip runner, dungeons & dragons and castle storm. f zero has been fun. i have several other titles, but those are the main ones i play. child of light looks awesome, but i haven't played it just yet.

I suppose since there are technically 2 new retail IPs coming out this year in America, we need something else to complain about?

At least with the current retail situation it makes sense to complain about but most of the downloadable games in general are new IPs. I think it's ok if Nintendo is almost the only exception to this

They don't. They have enough indies backing the Wii U and most of them are making creative new IPs. Nintendo only made new IPs for the 3DS eshop, because the indie scene isn't as big on there.

They are not the good indies though. The Vita at least has many of the good games.

In what way is a game like Scram Kitty not a good game (unless you don't like hardcore gaming, that is)? Also, Nintendo releases will only be on Nintendo hardware, so how Nintendo acts towards indies and on the eShop would only apply to Nintendo systems.

I have played every single one of the indie games that were ported to the Wii U and they are all mediocre. (Other than Blood of the Werewolf which isn't out yet). The ones that I actually like are on the Vita for the most part if ported at all.

I am pretty well educated on the matter.

That is one game and you right that it is not fair to lump that in with the rest of the stuff. (And I will get it pretty soon).

The rest though are the rejects. (That s why they are nearly all at 85% off and stuff on Steam a few weeks after release).
