9 preview builds are now available to download for free. If you download them you get 15% off when the games are released.
What do you think of them?

My opinion from best to worst:

1. RIVE (Two Tribes)

RIVE was the very best of the bunch. It looks amazing. It's fastpaced and the controls are perfect. I love how Two Tribes use that amazing Toki Tori 2+ engine to great effect. The best part about it is the sheer amount of classic action that actually feels extremely fresh and unique. The slowmotion effects seem so natural and enhance the experience. There's so much to destroy and the explosions look great! The hacking was nice so far. I played the preview twice, because I wanted moooore!

2. Soul Axiom (Wales Interactive)

Right from the beginning this felt like a sequel to Wales Interactive's other firstperson adventure Master Reboot. And it probably is, kind of. I like how you have to find your way through interesting otherworldly landscapes and have to find out what's going on. The framerate could use some polish, but the atmosphere is great. The gloomy music adds to the tension. You never know what to expect. A definitive step forward from Master Reboot are the cutscenes - this time there's no clash of two different art styles. I wish the demo was longer as I'm sure there's much more to it than this tutorial-like basic puzzle solving. One small issue: I just hope you can walk a little bit faster in the final build.

3&4. Runbow (13AM Games) and Extreme Exorcism (Golden Ruby Games)
Both are rather simple 2D multiplayer platformers, but they're also charming and chaotic and just really fun. Even more important, both also have their very own unique twist to the classic jump&run gameplay: RB with its rhythm and colors gameplay and EE with its "Phantom Mario Galaxy" gameplay. I love both of them. Runbow will probably last longer, with 9-player mode and online, but 4-player Extreme Exorcism's detailed 16Bit style and many weapons will make its rounds on my Wii U as well. I strongly believe the RB and EE previews will get much more playtime than all the other previews. Their pickup&play nature + multiplayer are just perfect for a demo. They're not like the other previews that you play through once, maybe twice, and then maybe another time to show them off to friends.

5. Typoman (Brainseed Factory)
One of the surprises! A game I never heard of before! This is very original and fresh. Something completely new. I'm looking forward to it. I particularly liked how at one puzzle you can decide if you want to construct the word "SLOW" or "STOP" to get through the crusher machine. It was also a rather neat coincidence that the soundtrack for this game is made by Sonic Picnic, the same people who made the soundtrack to RIVE!

6. forma.8 (MixedBag)
The last game I want to play more of. It's a rather relaxing exploration game, with action, adventure, and puzzle elements. If the price feels right I will add it to my collection as well.

7. Freedom Planet (GalaxyTrail)
Even though it is a Sonic clone and an amazing one at that (probably even better than Sonic itself) with great graphics, level design and controls, I'm just not that much into it. I'm sure it will have many fans, but I need it more like Shantae, you know, more like a metroidvania, where you can revisit levels to complete them 100%. Maybe that will be possible in the final version of this game, but as of now, at the moment I'm not into something Sonic-y.

8. Mutant Mudds Super Challenge (Renegade Kid)
I completed all the other previews, but I couldn't beat a single one of the three stages in this one. (Well, it was getting late) I hope Europe still receives the complete package for Wii U though. The difficulty in this one probably scares people away. Not everyone would assume that the game is usually easier.

9. Lovely Planet (QUICKTEQUILA)
Yeah, give me Tequila, quick! I almost had to quit this game! Coming from Splatoon, this is rubbish, sorry.

Rive is awesome. That was just incredibly fun and chaotic and crazy.

Yeah, I have tested only three and Rive was undoubtedly the best of the lot. I think what really elevates it are the sound/graphics effects during the explosions: the whole slo-mo thing with the camera zooming in etc, it's just irresistible

Freedom Planet, as mentioned before, is a Sonic clone. It looks great. Sonic's pointless speed has been replaced with different abilities. It's good, although it retains some issues that were inherent to the Sonic franchise (like, you have many paths to get to point B yet you have no real reason to prefer one over another). I had only one problem: the character's inertia when running left/right should be adjusted because it gives it a "slippery" feel.

Extreme Exorcism is fun as well.

Well, I tried most of the games. So, let's see:

  • Freedom Planet: also known as the Sonic game SEGA refuses to make. It's colorful, it's fast (but not too fast), and the characters have very lively animation - the visual side is really good. The gameplay, on the other hand, suffers from the same inconsistencies as many classic Sonic games. The controls feel floaty at times, the level design is kinda random and doesn't seem to have much structure, and at several points, fast movement is stopped by a wall or minor obstacle for no reason. I'll get it, but I'm not entirely cool with it.
  • Typoman: A very atmospheric game that fully utilizes the base idea of physical words affecting the environment, and by extension, themselves. It has very cool design, a lot of smart puzzles, and feels very mysterious. However, the controls are unwieldy, and the preview demo even had an issue where a puzzle became unsolvable because my curiosity got the best of me. It needs some polish, but has a lit of potential!
  • Rive: I played this for about two minutes, then it suddenly froze. Didn't bother trying again, since it's not my cup of tea, anyway.
  • Beautiful Planet: The first thing I thought when I started this game was "tech demo". It's random, minimalistic, and as straightforward as a perfect line. I couldn't warm up to this at all, since it neither challenged nor entertained me, but the quirky visuals kinda gave me some Katamari vibes, though I'm not sure if that's flattery for this game or insulting for Katamari...
  • Runbow: I was alone when I played this, and I felt pretty lonely when the preview demo ended. The controls are fun, and the platforming is solid, but the music is underwhelming, as are the confusing visuals. I'm sure this game is much more fun with friends, but I couldn't test that in the middle of the night, and nobody else wants to play it, anyway.
  • Mutand Mudds Super Challenge: It's Mutant Mudds. It's a good platformer that doesn't do anything special with its own gimmick. It's kinda tough, and it feels kinda unforgiving at times, but it's barely different from the previous games.
  • Soul Axiom: As much as I love the idea and it's integration, the preview feels incredibly rushed. Low-quality textures, an abysmal framerate, and unresponsive controls make this one of these games that shouldn't have been presented this early. I love the mystery of the game, though, and see a lot of potential to become a very ambient, yet challenging puzzle adventure.
  • Extreme Exorcism: This is probably the game with the best use of "imitating clones" I've played in my life. It's chaotic, fun, tense, and incredibly satisfying to play. And the best part is that you can't even blame the game if you fail, since the ghosts you create imitate your every action instead of being AI-controlled. The controls need some finetuning, and the level design is a bit confusing, but I'm really looking forward to this game.
I didn't play forma.8, since everything I know about it so far doesn't even begin to interest me.

lovely planet was the only game out of the group I didn't want to buy instantly. The rules of the game weren't very clear and it felt like i kept failing at levels because the game just wanted me to fail, instead of the game challenging me

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Despite usually being meh to these type of puzzle platformers, I found TypoMan to be super interesting.

Please people give Forma.8 a try - it was done by a very talented and competent 2-men italian studio. It's going to be the first italian game on the eShop so I'm very excited because videogame development in Italy is something that absolutely deserves more coverage. Mind you I am in no way associated with any developer - I'm just glad somebody from my country is releasing high quality stuff on home consoles.
You basically control a flying probe that has to explore a mysterious planet. The way it felt to me was like a cross between the level design of Knytt Underground and the atmosphere from Limbo, although the fact that you're a flying probe hopefully means no gravity based puzzles. It has that great "What comes next?!" feel you get from adventures like Another World. While the music seems to be mostly electronic based, it in enhanced by "organic" sound effects that really give the environment an "alive" feel. Even if you don't plan on buying it, at least give the preview a try!

Typoman was, indeed, a fun experience. And the crusher could also be solved by the word "HALT". Good to see multiple options. But I agree with Kaze_Memaryu on the controls being unwieldy. Carrying letters around was more troublesome than it should've been.

In the Treehouse Live segment, they said that they will add a Gamepad control scheme for things like rearranging letters.

I was also very impressed by Typoman, partly because it's not the kind of game that I feel I've played before.

I really loved Typoman. The creepy like environment and fun and inventive puzzles were really awesome.

Well had playthroughs:

Typoman: An interesting premise though I found the stopping and starting slowed gameplay. Did like the word puzzles though so may grab depending on price. Also framerate had its chugging moments.

Forma.8: Unfortunately, I can't get into any dark, dreary exploratory side-scrolling games. I started with absolutely no context and thus had no incentive to keep on playing. When I found myself having completed a full circle in the second area I'd had enough. Atmospheric it definitely is and for those that like such games it'll be right up their alley. But not for me I'm afraid.

Freedom Planet: You know those times when suddenly you have a massive flashback to things you cherished in the past? Well this is what happened when I played this game. The graphics, gameplay and music just catapulted me back to my 16 Bit childhood and I was loving every minute of it. My impatience made me load Steam and buy the game there and there (further sweetened by the coincidence that it was up as a flash sale, so £3.50 later I was speeding around through an assortment of levels and comic book style characters. Will definitely buy this on Wii U release if only for the superior Wii U d-pad.

Lovely Planet: Trippyyyyyyyyyyy!!!! Seriously, I didn't know what to expect and after playing it, I still don't know! And yet, I can't help but enjoy its quirkiness. May pick up at a cheap price, just to show to people. Appropriate developer name as they were either on Tequilla when it was conceived or you are meant to play it whilst drinking the stuff.

Soul Axiom: An interesting premise and gameplay, let down by some severely choppy framerate. If they can fix this I may pick it up, so this is one to wait for the reviews.

Runbow: One of those games that definitely is more fun the more people you have. In an eight player session it could be chaotic fun but alone, it was just dull. Also a tad slow but again, fill screen with more people and may not be so bad.

RIVE: More fun than I expected and the constant operator quips were great (wish they were voice acted as I missed a few). My only gripe is I wish that shooting could be done by simply tilting the stick as I found it a bit complex with so many buttons. Nonetheless, this one has a chance of being bought, dependent on price.

Extreme Exorcism: Quite fun and I like the pixel art. However again this is probably more fun in local multiplayer, but I probably will buy it for whenever friends are over as its a fun little game that can be picked up and enjoyed by all (sober or sloshed!).

Mutant Mudds: Okay, I'd played the 3DS version and whilst competent, it just didn't rub me the right way. Possibly because although I started with the 8 BIT NES, it wasn't until the 16 BIT SNES that I really got into gaming and its many intricancies. This makes me returning to 8 BIT style games difficult. Then again, I loved Shovel Knight. Anyway, demo was more frustrating than enjoyable so I quit. Like its 3DS brethren I'll skip it, but I'm sure it'll find its fans.

I'll end with a link to a tune I now can't get out of my head following these demo sessions:

I just finished the preview for Lovely Planet. Don't think I'll be picking it up, but I have a question: is there supposed to be no sound?

There is nothing here...except for the stuff I just typed...

I've only tried three of them so far, Freedom Planet, Soul Axiom and Rive.

Freedom Planet felt very much like I was playing a Sonic game on GBA with added combat, although it seems like it wants to be a Sonic game and a Metroidvania in one, and so the level design is all over the place. Still it's alright.

Soul Axiom I was just confused by. The main puzzle makes no sense, the unnerving music seems to just be there for the sake of being unnerving since nothing of actual suspense happens, and for a game with such low visual fidelity the framerate was just terrible. The premise of the game introduced at the end was intriguing, but unless they polish the gameplay I don't think it's worth staying for.

Rive seemed cool at first, but the game kept skipping and even had to load just to get the pause screen. Needs fixing before I consider playing it again.

Runbow was fun but it's so blatantly made for multiplayer that I don't even feel like talking about it unless I can play it that way.

Freedom Planet is quite fun, but it's gonna take a bit to get used to it NOT being exactly like Sonic despite the Sonic influence being so obvious that you'd assume the original creators made a kickstarter. Since Sega is too busy hating critical praise (my only explanation for why Sonic Colors/Generations isn't the permanent standard of the series), this will have to do.

Forma 8 is "I really liked Limbo" game #895. Gameplay's alright but I didn't find anything worth caring about quite honestly.

Soul Axiom is really interesting, but I have no idea what to think. It has potential certainly, but it's impossible to say if it will live up to anything. I will say, something about the framerate was really off to me.

@kkslider5552000 I completely agree. Even Lost World was a solid title, though not as good as the games you mentioned, but Sonic Boom was an abomination that pretty much killed the series as far as I'm concerned. I'm probably one of the only Sonic The Hedgehog fans who likes both Mario and Sonic franchises equally, but those days look to be over as I just can't forgive SEGA for their cash-in trash known as Sonic Boom.

Will the demos be removed from our downloaded games on the 23rd or will they simply no longer be available for download on the Wii U eShop? I hope we can keep the demo's if we downloaded them because I want to preview all of the games for a certain website.

There's no doubt a lot of influence from Sonic as its roots lie in a Sonic Fan Game the creators were originally working on (their belief was there hasn't been a good Sonic game since the Mega Drive era; a view I don't entirely agree with but it was probably the high point). However as you play through it, you do start to see influence from many other titles (especially in the boss battles, an area I thought Sonic wasn't always extremely strong in; not that it needed to be).

Its basically a love letter to the Mega Drive and part of its library, though it quickly obtains an identity of its own.

One thing the demo doesn't show off is its surprisingly detailed story told through cut scenes with full voice acting. It isn't exactly professional and the story seems like it was pulled out of a comic book or Saturday morning cartoon show (SATAM anyone?) but I found it enjoyable enough with plenty of drama, laughs and even a few dark moments.
