Topic: Kemco's Latest Wii U JRPG ~ Asdivine Hearts Is Hitting The European Wii U eShop On Thursday!

Kemco is releasing Asdivine Hearts on the European Wii U eShop this Thursday! The game hit the Japanese Wii U eShop less than a month ago so it's rather surprising it's hitting the eShop in the West so soon after the Japanese release of the game! Here's my source: http://nintendoeverything.com/asdivine-hearts-trailer/

Are you looking forward to the game? I sure am, assuming that it'll hit the North American Wii U eShop soon as well.

Just this minute purchased it from U.K. (European I guess!) shop 😊 Looks like a definitive JRPG... Which is just the way I like 'em!
REALLY looking forward to playing this 😊😊

I am weirdly intrigued by these Kemco RPGs. Are they as bad as folks seem to say?

WhVery strange "bitty" beginning, which contrasts with the kind of emotive, or dramatic beginnings to some of the JRPG's of, for example, the "classic", SNES era!
I confess to not taking a lot of notice, and, thus, having much knowledge of, the stream of "rpg's" that have, and, are still, being released for phones, tablets, etc, and which are currently being ported to conventional gaming systems! I am, therefore, only guessing when I surmise that, maybe, this game might well be one of those titles that was originally produced for the iOS/Android market?
I'll be spending more time with it over the weekend ( in between lovingly re-visiting the glorious experience which is TWILIGHT PRINCESS HD!! ) and I'll post my own, nothing-but personal, opinions of Asdivine Hearts, after I've got more of an idea as to how it plays!

@VelvetElvis: They're very enjoyable, sadly most people knock them for being too simplistic, which is kind of dumb since Kemco's RPG's try to be like 16-32 bit era JRPG's.

Thanks much — good to know. They're definitely on my radar for the day when my schedule opens up — I can feel that 16/32-bit vibe, which is what drew me to the games in the first place.

nah I think most people knock them for looking, feeling and playing like factory produced, middle of the road, pseudo RPG Maker generic RPGs. I'm sure they are not that bad, they are just extremely formulaic, which sometimes is exactly what RPG fans want from their RPGs.

Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

I'm testing and writing a review for this...

I'm not into roundbased JRPGs with random enemy encounters, in fact I can't stand them, but this one is an exception.
The battle system is nice, fast-paced and strategic, and the story and characters keep growing and get better and better.
I'm 25 hours in, with my characters between Level 45-50.
I thought these Kemco RPGs were smaller games with generic characters and stories, but this one borrows a lot from the classic Final Fantasy games and ultimately feels like a lost SNES epic.
Also, the price is a bargain for all the content there is.

The graphics could be better though, it looks like a 1990 SNES RPG rather than one from 1995.

When I'm done with this I'm certainly getting Alphadia Genesis now as well.

The developers of this game really made a strange title choice... I don't think they did themselves a favor with that.

Well, had a chance to have a decent play of this title which, apparently, DOES come from a, much maligned, iOS/Android-focussed, studio.
I have to say that, from purely my own, personal, opinion, SPZZAMAROZZI has "nailed it" with his brief, but incisive, post - well done you!
This IS just how the majority of rpg's looked and played back in the SNES era...... And I happily confess, I miss them!
Still early days, but I definitely feel I've played it enough (I'm levelled up to 16) to say that, for genuine RPG lovers like myself, who really do miss the days when a bunch of little characters would buzz around the screen, ransacking people's houses for treasure, having deeply philosophical conversations about why they pissed each other off, and then go off and slaughter a whole load of totally static monsters (😊), then this is a game that you're bound to have fun with!
If this is anything to go by, then I'll definitely be looking out for more Kemco releases on the Wii U/3DS!!
Take care all!

Apologies SPIZZAMAROZZI for miss-spelling your name in my last post. Totally unintentional buddy.

Maybe they wanted a title that starts with the letter "A" to appear first in alphabetical lists. Or maybe the original title was "Divine Hearts" and they were told to change it so it's not mistaken for a religious movie or something.

I started playing a little of this game yesterday and have enjoyed it so far. It's very reminiscent of the Lunar series, and the translation is pretty decent.

Asdivine is the name of the land. Why divine?
Because: Hyrule Warriors. Why rule?

To be fair, they are on par with most 16-bit/32-bit jrpg's...

To continue being fair, most people dont give a flying poot about most 16/32 bit jrpg's because they were forgettable trash.

'Taste my refreshments' anyone?

Anybody?

Sees Kogorn733 waving his hands
has Ninjas blindfold, gag, and stuff Kogorn733 into the backroom
(Dont worry Kogorn733, you are not alone, one of my best freinds absolutely adores Lunar)

Nobody? Nobody knows where thats from?

And there we go. Completely forgettable.

Once games like ff6 and chrono trigger came out, these kind of rpg's became even more insufferable... particularly when games that followed the new ground games like chrono trigger blazed dissapeared, and this stuff kept chugging until everybody was sick and jrpg's became a running gag.

Until Xenoblade came out and 'westernized' or 'modernized' or whatever made up adjective/adverb the media fondly overuses to describe Xenoblade simply picking up the design philosophy where it was abandoned and applying the meager modern power of the wii to it with amazing results.

That is partly unfair.
But at the same time, most people who make retro-inspired 16 bit RPGs do seem to base them on the really simple ones from that era.
I can't think of many that've tried to recreate something more advanced like FF6 or Chrono Trigger.
To The Moon is a good exception, although it's barely an RPG.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

TowaHerschel7

@Dezzy: Asdivine Hearts does have some unique gameplay elements and it's not as simple as most would think at first glance.

@Indy83: You are a troll right?! Most true gamers that are not CoD brodudes see the 16-32 bit era as the golden age of RPG's.
