Hey guys are you as excited as I am about the release of Elliot Quest for the Wii U eshop? I already have the game as a reviewer for a certain other website, but I can't say anything about the game until it releases, however I'd like to see other fans hype for this game!
I can't say much, but if you like the story in NES era platforming RPG's like Zelda II you'll probably enjoy it. I can't be any more specific then that.
I know it's clearly got some Kid Icarus inspiration, but still...is it really a good idea to call it "The new Kid Icarus" when it's in no way a new Kid Icarus game?

There's a reason I named this thread by that tagline. You'll just have to wait until the release to find out.

Unless the Kid Icarus turns out to be the main character, Kid Icarus Developers are in the end credits as having worked on the game, or Nintendo themselves will be publishing it as the new Kid Icarus, I will still personally find it misleading...
It plays more like Zelda II to be honest. It's pretty good so far, but there was a random breaking glitch that hit me. It didn't happen again though so I can't really recreate it

I love Kid Icarus and have been following this game since the Kickstarter, and the only thing Elliot Quest has in common with Kid Icarus are the fact that they're 2D, involve platforming, and that the main characters look similar. Calling it a "Kid Icarus Style Game" is completely inaccurate. It's much more of a Metroidvania than Kid Icarus' mishmash of 2D Platform-shooter gameplay and barebones dungeon segments. In fact, in the Kickstarter, KI is not mentioned once, yet Zelda II is cited as an inspiration many times.
Sorry for the rant; just felt the need to clarify that.
