As someone who never played the original is it really worth the purchase or is it mostly for nostalgia?

I enjoyed it and I never played the original, this did feel like a old school platformer. (it wasn't as forgiving and modern platformers)

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

My 3 year old nephew loves playing Ducktales on my WiiU. I play through the harder parts for him though as he's still learning the controlls.

I would have gotten the Disk version except the eShop version was very cheap at under $8.oo!

I gust with that the Original was unlockable!

See if you can beat it on the hardest level... Then you will be on the first step of being a Ultimate Advanced Hardcore Gamer (UAHG) like the MAB

It is cool game, but it can be annoying with added stuff, like with those coins. Every time it have to explain it to you, but thankfuly, you can skip it. The graphics and music is still great, though. If you like old-school platformers from NES era, you can give this game a try
Some reviewers said it is easy game without challange - now I know those tards played on easy and as always were too ashamed to admit it.

I downloaded it because of the temporary discount and I've only played it for a hour or so, but so far I'm a bit disappointed. Beside the cut scenes, it's the level design that I really couldn't get into. It feels a bit claustrophobic, if it makes any sense. Hope it'll grow on me.

Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

I too got it because it was on sale, and I have to say, I'm quite impressed! The 2D art is outstanding as well as the remixed soundtrack. As far as the complaints on the cutscenes, I think it's great that they're trying to tie everything together and the voice affecting is a nice touch. They don't break up the gameplay any more than stories in other games, and skipping them is as easy as two button presses.

I think you will enjoy whether you played the original or not. I bought the retail version and was pleasantly surprised how good and affordable it is.

I got it when it went on sale on the eShop and I was disappointed too. Its not a bad game, but its definitely relying on the nostalgia factor. I enjoyed the remake of Castle of Illusions more.

Four more months until Bayonetta 2.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I thought the games were great, even better than the original, and I have no nostalgia for either the tv series or the original game. What were you guys expecting that made it so disappointing?

It's not that bad for me either - but it's hardly more than an average platformer on a console (WiiU) that has a lot of better platformers to choose from. I got it at the sale, but I would be pissed off if I had to spend 15€ on it (put another 15€ on and you can get Rayman Legends if you know what I mean...).
I think it plays a lot on nostalgia and on the Disney factor, because the level design is more or less dead calm and the stages are not so fun to play through. Yes it's fun to beat the challenge they throw at you (the challenge being mostly enemies placed in narrow passages...), but there's nothing really of interest happening. Also the stages themself are a bit anonymous - I just finished the african level and I went through three or four floors and I couldn't tell one from the other.
Considering the original price tag and all the fuss about the game, I was expecting a bit more fun. But I still have to do two levels, so let's see what happens.

Those don't really sound like issues to me. :/ I mean, I can't stand levels that have too much stuff going on or have too many enemies coming at you. But eh, I guess it depends on what you're in it for. Also what are you playing it on? There's several difficulty levels that IIRC change the game a lot.

Oh yeah, and I thought the levels were large and diverse. The Temple part of the Amazon all looked kind of the same, but I'm pretty sure that was intentional.

really? Coming from the Amazonian Temple, through Transilvania and to Africa, I didn't notice much of a change in indoor levels. I mean, they clearly are different but for the most part they look kinda same-y, even in colour. I really like challenges in videogames, but it seems that when this game wants to get challenging, it just puts an enemy between two ledges or under a very low ceiling (mind you, I'm not criticizing the difficulty, just the lack of variety in challenges). For example, sometimes I really felt like it was time for some good falling platform sequence but no, the game is very linear about its obstacles. I'm playing it on normal and will start a hard difficulty playthrough once I'm done with the first run.

Yeah, well, this game is a remake so they're doing it the same way it was done on the NES all those years ago.

As for the amount of enemies, it's not so much that there's a lot of enemies, it's just that they all respawn indefinitely, like in many NES games.

but no one really complained about the amount of enemies though.
