Retail, because I trust something that I can touch more.

@Cryptonic And I don't even know what I'm saying now! XD

It's just that, I know that I can play my retail whenever I want without any worries, unless that cartridge breaks which is very unlikely.

I'm download-only - if it's not in the eShop it may as well not exist as far as I'm concerned. The only thing that would change that would be if I ended up living somewhere with crap Internet access, but I have no plans to move to the countryside just yet!

My thoughts on the matter too.

I download because I'm a pirate... oh who am I kidding? I buy retail because of the retail case and disc, resale value if I don't need it anymore, used game sales, and not having your game collection locked to a single console are all reasons I like buying retail. Although recently the Wii U eShop sales on downloadable content has been very tempting. I have bought several titles on sale though I missed out on Chasing Aurora.

Wow, that's a bit elitist (and snobbish), I live in the countryside so to speak and I have no problems with internet speed, it might not be high speed yet, but we still have good broadband, you clearly have no idea what it's like to live in the country side 24/7.

Anyway for me, I'm retail all the way, while I can download at the internet speeds we have, it's the cost of memory space and SD Cards that worry me the most, also I love having a shelf, you guys stop dissing the shelves man! You know in 20 years time, people will be showing off their lame "Digital shelf", but I'll be the man with the stuff because I'll own it all physically.

Console/Handheld, retail.

The last game I bought retail was on 3DS, MH3U.
I bought everything else digital: LM2, Layton, Zero Escape VLR, Bit.Trip Saga, DKCR and FE:A.
What I mean is, nothing beats the easiness and commodity of having a 32gb SD card full of games, both downloadable retail and VC/3DSware
But for Wii U I prefer retail, physical copy

Quick access games like Brain Age I prefer digital no doubt.
Regular games I would probably prefer retail.
I don't always have a choice - I'm sometimes forced to buy digital instead of retail because of location access.

I agree. Every game should at least exist on the eShop, regardless. Game companies should be making eShop purchases a priority, because it's instant access.
Nintendo charging $10 more for New Super Luigi U as a disc, and at a later date should show how much more BS they have to deal with getting out the game on a disc.
If people actually like these games and want them to continue happening at a faster, easier, and overall better rate, buy digital.

And you clearly don't live in the UK where you're lucky to get 2Mbps less than fifty miles from an urban centre and very often can't get more than 8Mbps in many urban areas because BT hasn't rolled out fibre everywhere. Here's a nice tip for you in general: before name-calling and judging people you should probably have some idea of where the other person is speaking from.

I play games; fondling plastic boxes has never been a nostalgic pastime for me. NOW you can fairly call me an elitist snob!

Retail because if I end up getting bored of a game (Which I'm sad to say is happening with Fire Emblem Awakening during my second playthrough. The ONLY part I still really like is Chapter 10.), then I want to get money back for it and put it towards something I will actually use or play.

Only exception is Animal Crossing. But that's a free download.

Currently playing: Cuphead, Super Smash Brothers Ultimate

Both. I never really trade-in games.

depends on the game. Though with handhelds I have a bigger incentive too by digitally.

I get physical as much as possible. Downloads don't have any monetary value they are purchased.

I mostly buy physical just because of the limited space on both systems, Wii U and 3DS. I upgraded my 3DS SD card to a 32 gig which is the highest it can support and I already have 30 eShop games and 14 Virtual Console games (plus I will be buying the Oracle of Ages/Seasons games) so I don't want to fill up my SD Card to fast. Also on Wii U I have about 10 eShop games and 11 Virtual Console games and that is also only 32 gig currently but with bigger game sizes and the OS taking up a lot of space. So with all that being said, I buy physical copies only because the Wii U and 3DS don't have enough space. (I do plan on buying a 2 TB external Hard Drive for my Wii U later and maybe that will change something)

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

If I can get it retail and it's NOT a VC title, I'll be getting it retail. An example of this is New Super Luigi U. I'm not downloading that, I'm getting it retail. I'm a big Nintendo collector.
