I have the base of the game done from start to finish it takes about 1 to 1.5 hours for me to complete it. This is without the 10 to 15 hidden rooms in the first scene. I am exhausted and need a break. so I will probably not be doing much for the next few days. If I don't respond right away please be patient.

And from reading your youtube message I heard you're gunning for a hudless health system. You're still planning for that? And I could say something about the hud too?

The next step is completing a PC/MAC/Linux Demo. I am still working the story in to the game but I have enough for a good 20 to 30 min Demo I have most of the interior work of the game done and am .. as you can see in the video working on the exterior (Town) of the game. Being this close to finishing I thought it was important to try to stir up a little publicity and as a push to get more criticism from the gaming community I created the IndieDB and Steam Concept pages.

I am working on the new health system. It is a realistic human heart that changes appearance and Beats per min based on the actual health of the player.

Please do say something about it.

I'll probably tell you more when you build the demo....but maybe have the ammo counter look a bit unique too since you have a unique health system in place. (It kinda looks a bit stock when you have a heart system in place. again I'll go in greater detail when you make your demo.) Good luck!

I must admit, when I saw you post from the first video, I wasn't really sure what I was seeing or what was happening. I had kind of just dismissed this and moved on.

Then I come on and see the LATEST footage, and WOW, what a jump. This looks AMAZING. Really good job man!

How will the difficulty in the game work? Will you be able to change the difficulty? The one thing I noticed was that it seemed like spiders would just run at you from out of the dark and go down in one shot - which doesn't seem to present to much of a challenge. Maybe that's what you're going for, but I'm a survival horror kind of guy who likes worrying about whether or not I'm going to have enough ammo to survive.

Really excited to see what else you come up with!

Thank you all for the nice comments.

I have been working on the story for the last couple days trying to really bring it out. I put about 30 more hours in to it and I think it was well worth it.

Now I am struggling with setting up the cut scenes for the Intro to the Game and Demo. I may use narration, stills and some rendered videos with in the game as place holders just to speed things up and get this project moving forward.

As I am sure every one is starting to get board with the same scene setting over and over in my videos. I decided to start to leak a little more of the game.
I just added another video "more of a proof of progress then anything else". The video is of the place holder Main Menu scene for the Demo. I plan on having the menu options on the doors in the scene and allowing the player to walk to the option of there choice.

I am in the process of uploading yet another video of the updated HUD for the players health.

I also changed out the knife with an axe to give the player a bit more reach as I found out the hard way it was near impossible to get past some parts.

@Bazly as of right now the baddies are one shot kills. you currently start with only 5 shots left in the clip of the gun and finding ammo is tough, finding the right sized ammo is even harder. There will be other guns in the game along with an assortment of melee's This game is not meant to be a shoot em up style you will need to be cunning and pay close attention to not over use your resources. There will be option for changing difficulty.

The Introduction of a story in many ways is the authors attempt to show the reader where the story starts but where does a story really start?

Graham Greene once said

“A story has no beginning or end: arbitrarily one chooses that moment of experience from which to look back or from which to look ahead ”

So perhaps this story has always been and is simply lying in wait.

Like people, some houses have a way of showing their character in the most subtle ways. Just as a generous and loving figure can make you feel warm and fuzzy, a creepy smile from a stranger can send shivers down your body and at a mere glance an abandoned house can leave you with an unsettling feeling that you are in the presence of pure evil.

Now scatter these vessels of evil previously called homes and businesses on the landscape of a once thriving town and you have found the setting for this story.

History tells us a tale of tragic mistakes that lead to a once thriving town's demise. In short the theory goes that in May of 1962 the city council hired five individuals to clean up the town's landfill located in an abandoned coal mine pit. Like previous years the landfill was set on fire to burn the heaps of garbage.

However unlike the previous years the fire could not be put out and it entered the labyrinth of abandoned coal mines beneath the town.

I propose another theory. A theory lying in wait and hidden among the memories left behind in the many vessels that make up this ghost town.
A theory to be discovered and presented as a story of the sheer horror felt by the victims of an evil man.

I invite you to immerse yourself in this tale as it unfolds throughout the desolate shell's of its many vessels, within the hidden rooms and passages of the mansion and beneath the earth in the dark twisting labyrinth of the mines.

Yes getting closer to the release of the full game but I can't say how far out it will be yet. I first have to get the demo out and then use feedback to improve the game so that I can release it on the Wii U and hopefully have any bugs that are found worked out. As with any indie developer there are financial burdens that have slowed the production. My original estimate was to have Alius Insectum finished around December of this year. I am about 2 to 3 months behind in the project. So I would estimate March/April for the Wii U release.
