I don't get it. It looks exactly the same...?

I prefer it being a bit slower... Going quicker means more deaths and lower scores

Maybe it's lack of free speech over there and NOE doesn't have the right to change it? (Popular belief )

It's only 10hz slower. That's not bad.

Maybe 50hz is all you guys can handle.
Maybe its for the best.

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

Well, free speech is stolen in some spots, so maybe NOE isn't allowed to change their VC from their originals due to NOJ or something. That's my grandma's best guess on this.

Why does everyone seem to hate the idea of having 60hz? trust me, it's way better then that regular old 50hz and I personally would rather play the game the way it was originally intended to run at. Besides, why does everyone outside the EU have to put up with the slowdown of 50 hz? 60hz may seem like only another 10hz to anyone, but a game running normally at 60hz is 17% faster than old conversions and that is a very noticable trait.
Nintendo of Europe is being lazy and Nintendo of Australia isn't even better, trust me NOAu has had me angry for some time, whenever something like this comes out they just flat out say that NOE handles all the eShop/nintendo shop channel etc and they can't do anything about it and when I suggest they forward my complaint or whatever to their counterpart, they just flatout refuse. I know there was some news recently about nintendo customer service, but don't believe the hype, they are very frustrating to talk to and they probably won't help me when I phone them tomorrow. Still I'm going to complain to them even if they won't hear me out, there are plenty of people already not willing to support the virtual console, seriously go read the comments on the Change.Org petition I posted about.

You know, in the past Nintendo has released 60hz games on the Wii VC, but they've all mostly been TG-16, Neo Geo or the Hanabi Festival games, but seriously they shouldn't be allowed to fool us by giving their consumers the inferior version of their product. I don't see any reason why they can't give us the NTSC 60hz versions, I mean I would pay the extra amount it'd cost to have the 60hz version then the 50hz version just so I could share the same experience NA and Japanese gamers have had like forever.
Everyones tvs these days can run 60hz no problem, getting the 50hz is like a big F-You to gamers, it just seems Nintendo is too stingy to import the proper versions.
I'm telliing you I'd rather pay the full $10-$15 for 60hz F-Zero next month than the 30c/30p for the 50hz version and you know we are already getting full 60hz NES games on the 3DS VC, so why isn't Nintendo doing the same with both NES and SNES games on the new WiiU VC? it just doesn't make much sense to me.

I tried Super Mario Bros. from the original Wii VC. It ran just fine.

From what I've seen (emulation), the PAL NES version of Super Mario Bros. was one of the games where Nintendo did attempt to speed the game up over its NTSC version, to compensate for the PAL slowdown. Unfortunately, Nintendo may have overshot the flagpole and made the PAL version (again, at least using a few emulators set to the right TV mode for the right version) a little faster than the NTSC.
(as I do not own a PAL SMB cart to make a real hardware test.)

Do the VC download games in Europe have ALL the languages available to choose from? If the games that are running in 50hz have multiple languages to choose from, that's probably why they aren't giving you guys U.S. versions of the games. We only have english and Japanese in our games over here.

That doesn't have anything to do with running the game at 60hz. It really should be a very simple fix, and I hope Nintendo does fix it. I think giving European gamers an option to play the game at either 50hz or 60hz is fair.

After watching that video, I have now seen the light.
And acutally like it better at 50hz.

Ya, you're right. They could just clock it up to 60hz. That's the only way I could see them doing it though. The PAL versions were originally 50hz, which includes more language selection not in JAP/U.S. versions, so they would have to overclock/clock it up to speed with the other region versions. They could just take the clockrate from the 60hz version, and add the 'missing' 17% speed manually. It could still be off by a milisecond at worse, but it would be closer. They might not be able to convert it fully even still. Maybe the conversion to lead to a repeating decimal sequence, in other words.

I wasn't aware that Nintendo of Australia had any employee's within those walls at the Melbourne & Sydney HQ's... Nothing but big empty buildings with a few phones that automatically divert to the Europe offices and a monkey in the basement that sends me the occasional Club Nintendo trinket

I was thinking this, too. This whole situation seems to be more of an opinion of presentation. I think a version between these would be better honestly. U.S. versions seem WAY too fast compared to Europe, but Europe seems way too slow. I want 55hz. Haha. I'm not a pro, I just trust the big companies know what they're doing, and know what's for the best(in product terms and such). I only complain if the s*** don't work at all.

I wish. NOAu would be cooler that way IMO, as long as the job gets done.

If the game was coded for 60Hz originally they would have had to convert it to 50Hz - not like it was re-written for PAL displays. So all they should have to do is convert it back to NTSC - it's not that hard!

But the comment about the Hanabi and other consoles isn't really valid because in those cases the games never had PAL versions, so they'd have had to create them, which they clearly weren't willing to do. The best solution is to do like iTunes when you buy an HD film and you automatically get the SD version as well - just give folk the ability to download NTSC or PAL.
