Hi everyone!
My name is Arturo, and I'm the creator of the upcoming indie game for Wii U: 3Souls.

I thought it would be a good idea to open a new topic here, where I can hear people's opinions and suggestions, and where I can give you updates with new info of the game little by little in the coming months. I also find that this is a great place for Nintendo fans and this topic could be the path to reach each other about the game as developer.

3Souls is a platform puzzle indie game exclusive for Wii U, that has a heavy use of the GamePad. The windows release of the game will be Q2 2016.

The first images of 3Souls, that I took from the beginning of the game, I introduce you to Nelesa, the first character that you will be able to play with. You will know then her story first, a story that you can see with the graphic design, is told on a chalkboard. With the pictures you can as well perceive some of the features of the Gamepad... but I let you to use your imagination to figure it out

Concept
The game of 3Souls take place on the world of Mustland. The people of this world is called Ánimas, and they have a Soul like we humans have it. The different is that their Souls are outsite, and any other Ánima could see it (we can see it too, but we cant understand it....)
We, humans, in our world, can connect to their world throught the GamePad, where we see a representation, on the shape of a face, of the feeling of the Ánima.
On the game, you will play the story of 3 Ánimas, and while you are playing with them, you will have to look down to the GamePad, to learn more about them, knowing if a character is sad, angry, scared.... the more that you play, the less that you have to look down to check the face of the Soul, because you know the character better
But this wont be the only way to connect to Mustland. Around that world, there are different portals that connect to our world. If you find a portal, you can make a connection with them, helping them in their adventure... to do so, you will need to use the GamePad in different ways as well.
Reading them minds, looking at their feelings and connecting to their world, will be how you help from your world to each of the characters on their stories.

Europe: 28th July: € 3.60 / £ 3.20
America: TBD: $ 3.90

Seems promissing to me. The gamepad offers endless possibilities, from the outside maybe it didn't look that amazing, but after experiencing it with some games i have to give it to Nintendo, it's quite unique and fun.

I hope 3Souls makes good use of the gamepad. Waiting to know more about the game.

@dzt99:
Thanks! Exciting to see people interested for the concept I will hopefully share more (and same gameplay) soon, to let the people understand better the game

Here I leave the info that you can find on the intro of the game, where I explain the concept of the game:

Haven't clicked on this before... thought it's a 3DS game posted in the wrong forum.
Yeah, weird connections I make. 3Souls? Must be for 3DS. ^^

Actually it looks interesting. New game concepts are always welcome.
Yes, it is harder to sell/market/explain something new, but if the gameplay is designed well people will understand it and spread the word.
I didn't fully get it either I must admit, I guess it's some sort of Tamagotchi adventure/puzzle platformer.

Hi again everyone!

First of all, thanks for the kind words! Really excited to start seeing people interested on the 3Souls!

Today I bring a new trailer!

This is the trailer of Nelesa and the sad cells of Moon Prison, and it shows finally the gameplay of the game.
Here is the trailer:

One of the problems of making a trailer with a game like this, is that I have to reveal the way I use the GamePad. I know it's important to do it on the trailer, because then people have a better idea of the game, but it would be much more surprising if you discover by yourself.
That's the reason, why I decided to show only one type of use per trailer (There will be a total of 3 gameplay trailers, one per character). The other uses will be secret until launch, leaving to the player the surprise factor

Here I leave a little description of this last trailer:

Discover Nelesa, her thoughts, her feelings, and some of the secrets of her world, Mustland, that await you on her adventure.

You will meet Nelesa, the first character of the game, in the sad cells of Moon Prison

During the game you can connect to Mustland, the world of the Ánimas, through one of the many portals that you will find on their adventure. In this trailer, you can see one of the portals hidden inside the cameras of Moon Prison, allowing you to see from your world with the Wii U GamePad, what Nelesa cannot see from hers.

I hope you like it!

Here I bring some updates about the launch of the game.

For the last part of the developtment, many people have join the team to give them support and work on it. This could have mean that we could delay one more time the game to make sure that we achieve the experience that we want, but we have decided to change the format of the game in order to launch it at time. The new format will be episodic, splitting the game in 3 parts. 3Souls is the story of 3 different characters and an episodic format will fit really good.

With this new format, we will be able to launch 3Souls - Episode 1: Nelesa still on Q2 2016, with the quality that we can achieve with all our new team members, launching the other two episodes during this summer.

Another key reason to take this decision, was the way we introduce 3Souls to the people. We find that the marketing in a game like this, is really tricky, because we need to reveal the use of the Wii U GamePad in order to show some interesting gameplay. And this is spoiling and breaking the experience of the game, because how to use it, is part of the puzzle itself.

Bringing the game in an episodic format, let the player to start playing with it, for a much lower price, and the word of mouth will probably help us more than spoiling the game with more trailers, conserving the experience that we want to transmit the first time that the player plays.

Saying this, we can assure you that the final price of the first episode plus the other two as Add-on Content, will be the same price that we had in mind when we wanted to launch it as one single game.

Another update, is te introducton of voice in the intro of the game, and you can see here the update version of it, where it explain all the concept of the game and the world of Mustland:

I hope you like these updates!

Looks like an interesting concept for a puzzle/adventure game.

So there's 3 characters (souls), one of them Nelesa that you will be playing in the first episode.
I think that's alright. If we don't have to wait forever for the next parts. I think in episodic games one thing to accomplish is to bring out at least one episode in a year, preferably one per month.

The Fall is an episodic eShop adventure as well and it's pretty good. Though, it came out a year ago (at least in Europe) and we still wait for the second game.
Tales of Monkey Island (and Strong Bad for that matter) on WiiWare did it excellently: Five episodes spread across 5 months. One new episode per month was just perfect.

I hope it works out for you. ShenMue and LostWinds are episodic releases that made it to the second episode but were never concluded.

@SKTTR: The idea is to bring each episode every 1-2 month, having all of them on summer

Seeing the additional episodes being DLC rather than seperate games is relieving, as I hit the maximum amount of 300 games on my Wii U and need to delete older games for new ones to show up on my Wii U Menu.

On the other hand, separating them would give them more publicity/coverage, so that's something to consider.

Yeah, we thought about that as well, because DLC doesnt recive too much news than a single game, but the game is really those 3 episodes toguether, so it wouldnt make sense to separate it them. Hopefully if everything goes as plan, it wont be long the wait between episodes, and people can enjoy the full game before summer is over

Here I bring some updates

  • Co-op Mode! The game will include this mode that can be active at anytime, where a second player can take the control of Nelesa with the Wii Remote or the Pro Controller through the platform and the other player remain on the Wii U GamePad to inform about the thoughts and feelings of the Soul and resolve the puzzles of the game by connecting with the portals of the game and using the features of the GamePad controller.
This is a perfect mode for those that doesnt like platform that much, and can give that part of the game to a friend and stay in charge of the puzzles, or the other way around. It will also change the experience by playing this mode, because you have to collaborate by sharing all the info from the gamepad to go foward in the game, collaborating with each other controlling the same character.
  • The first episode of the game is already in Lotcheck, and we are aming to launch then between the end of June of beginning of July

Here is a Sneak Peek of the Co-op mode

New update! the final price of 3Souls Episode 1: Nelesa, will be
€ 3.60 / £ 3.20 / $3.90
The launch date: 28th of July in Europe, and hopefully a just a few later in America.

Shahinshah wrote:

Thanks! I start the game focusing first on a way to implement different uses of the controller. I wanted to make a main use during the game (which ended up being the soul on the GamePad) and different uses for puzzles (which are the portals on the game now).
Once I have a solid idea of how could works I started building more concept around it. I really like games with deep meanings, so I wanted to create something similar, where the GamePad take part of that.
I really hope people enjoy this
