You can transfer your Wii VC to the Wii U's Wii Mode. Then when a VC game you own in Wii Mode is released for Wii U VC you can upgrade your Wii VC game for the Wii U version for a small fee, $1 for NES and $1.50 for SNES
So, I would not lose my Turbo Grafix 16 and Sega Genesis games?
Correct, you just won't be able to use a GameCube controller to play them
Not yet, thats comming next year when Super Smash Brothers is released for the Wii U. You can buy a Nintendo port then. Also, you can get a GC Gamecube Game Controller Converter Adapter for Wii & Wii U Console for the Wiimote on ebay.
I don't think the official Adapter has been confirmed to work on Wii VC yet

I think I'll stick with the Wii, then. I'll lose a lot if I downgrade to the Wii U. I only hope they release more VC games but I feel like they went and cancelled it before they even scratched the surface of what it could do.

LMFAO. Nice one.

you do know it all transfers right?
It sounds too complicated - there is "wii mode" virtual console and "wii U" virtual console, and some games might be released on both.. and I'll lose my gamecube games unless they release them on the Wii U Virtual Console but then I have to buy them again... and if I keep my Wii and buy a Wii U - why? For a few VC games that I can not get on my Wii already? there's no point to getting a Wii U now.
As I said before, if Nintendo released 32x, Saturn and Dreamcast on the Wii U VC, I'd buy one right now. That would be worth giving up my game cube for.
That doesn't confirm if the Wii U GameCube controller adapter will work in Wii Mode on Wii U
See post above. And I do think this new Nintendo made adapter will only work with Wii U. That's why the other product would be better for Wii Mode.
I saw your previous post where you said the GameCube adaptor was confirmed to work on Wii VC on the Wii U but the link you provided did not say anything about that. And yes there are other 3rd Party solutions for that but A) they are 3rd Party and B) those "solutions" just make the GameCube controller act like a Classic Controller or Pro Controller which can lead to inconsistencies in how things work (such as the analog stick and triggers).
Right now there is no information to support the Official GameCube Controller Adapter will work in Wii Mode.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Downgrade?

You should buy a Wii U for what the Wii U offers. It sounds like you would keep your Wii anyways for GameCube games so just focus on why you want a Wii U, not what it can replace. It isn't like any of the other current gen consoles (PS4/Xone) offer backwards compatibility.
