Topic: Yoshi's Safari now a possibility for Wii U VC?

Given Duck Hunt is coming to Wii U VC, does that mean it's technically possible to program Yoshi's Safari to work on the VC too?

Indeed, it is possible.

That's great! I really hope they bring this game to VC at some point.

I played Yoshi's Safari emulated., Its more fun with a mouse than the super scope, which I have also used.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

I was thinking about the Super Scope, and then I remembered that games could use both the Super Scope (presumably emulated using the Wii Remote) and the controller at the same time. Not enough buttons on the Wii Remote for SNES games.
I guess they could go with Wii Remote + GamePad at the same time?
I think Yoshi's Safari used that for co-op mode (one player shoots, the other controls Yoshi). BattleClash and/or Metal Combat used that for VS. Mode (one player controls the enemy)

I never owned a Super Scope, but I really doubt that any game ever tasked the player with using a gamepad and the Super Scope accessory simultaneously since it appears to be meant to be held with both hands. If any ever did have such a cumbersome combination, surely a nunchuck in the other hand surely would suffice and prove superior where comfort is concerned?

The only Super Scope compatible game that I'm aware of owning also used the regular SuperNes controller, but you switched between the two as needed. The Hunt for Red October supported the Super Scope, but only during the torpedo segments where you were looking through the periscope. At this time, instead of using the d-pad and buttons on the gamepad like you normally would when playing without the Super Scope, you set that down and picked up the Super Scope that was plugged into controller port #2 until this segment was done where you switched back.

You didn't use both simultaneously so this functionality could be easily accommodated in that particular title just as it was when it was brand new by switching between two different controllers.

If you're talking multiplayer, what's the problem then?

Just like how both players didn't have to share the same Super Scope back then to play it, one player would use a Wii remote in place of the Super Scope (Which a search just now shows only had two action buttons) while the other player utilizes something like the Wii U gamepad, Pro Controller, or Classic Controller in place of the regular SuperNes controller.

I've not seen a SuperScope game but I know of at least one Zapper game that did use both the gun and controller at the same time: Bandai's Shooting Range. (though it's probably not likely to be released anyways since it wasn't a very popular game. I remember since it was part of a lot that was some of the first NES games I bought)
It required using the gun but also moving the camera with the D-Pad. I think you might've also had a secondary weapon that needed a controller button.
I think there might've been another Zapper game that needed a controller for an extra fire button (since the Zapper only had one).

I've heard the SuperScope was a lot heavier, so I'd guess it wasn't as suitable to make a game needing both hands on different controllers at once.

I still think the Super Scope games would be more fun with a Wii controller instead of using the Super Scope. And Super Scope 6 would be cool as quick pick up and play games since they are so short and basic but with a new lease on life thanks to the Wii remote.

Man, as a tribute to Satoru Iwata (Yoshi's Safari director!) this would be REALLY nice, although the concept of a shooting game starring Yoshi and Mario with the super scope is quite surreal even for the Mario universe! Unfortunately, the technical complications (this is a SNES game, so the infrastructure for Duck Hunt likely needs major restructuring) along with the NX coming don't bode very well...

Are mouse games like Mario Paint and Mario & Wario possible on Wii U? Surely it would be easy to replicate the mouse pad on the touch screen.

Shouldn't it have even been possible on the Wii? It does have a USB port, so couldn't it have supported using a USB mouse?

I own the Super Scope and a few games including Yoshi's Safari. I think these games would have been perfect for the Wii Remote, I don't understand why they weren't released on the VC. Never too late.

I really don't like the navigation bar of Nintendo Life continuously reappearing while browsing!!

Probably licensing issues. Nintendo didn't develop it. Bullet Proof Software did. I think they're out of business now.

Ya. Everyone thought Wii would get Duck Hunt, especially with the Zapper thing, so it's not even a new idea. They probably didn't even care to get it on there at 480p anyway, otherwise they would have forced the Wii to run a resolution the overall console didn't have(if they ran it at 1080p, which they could have), or just give the Zapper a cursor, then program the games to run off the the retical, but everyone would have broke that like they did their TVs without the wrist strap. That's how things go.

That's why Yoshi's Safari is like Duck Hunt, too, now. They might as well put some of the Sega IR games on there, but Sega.

I believe the same guy who founded and ran BPS was the guy in charge of The Tetris Company. So it's likely TTC would own BPS' copyrights.
As you said though, Yoshi's Cookie probably does have licensing issues. But with a different company.
It seems Yoshi's Cookie was originally developed created by a company called Home Data (according to the SNES version credits) as a game called Hermetica (according to an old Nintendo Power) before Nintendo bought the NES version code from BPS and turned it into Yoshi's Cookie, with the SNES version following. So it seems some other company, Intellectual Property Holding Company or something, got the copyrights to the game (as credited on Nintendo Puzzle Collection for Japanese GameCube as well as in the Operation Guide in the Wii VC release).
