Topic: Which DS games do you wanna see next for the Wii U Virtual Console?

Well obviously I wanna see Meteos from 2005.

Now Meteos was ranked at #52 in Nintendo Power's Top 200, the highest out of any DS game.

Meteos received better Famitsu scores than Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver, and from G4tv, Meteos accumulated a perfect score.

Getting Meteos by retail is impossible. Good luck trying to get the game in an actual store, as they very, very likely don't have it. If you try to order the game online, the result is Meteos: Disney Magic from 2007, nowhere near as good as the 2005 classic. They have information, however they will lie.

Meteos even inspired me to make my first video game that I released on the Internet 7 months ago as I watched the videos. Maybe perhaps I should develop the first Meteos game in less than 15 years.

So if and as soon as Nintendo eShop for the Wii U releases Meteos, I will buy it for the Wii U, which I've had for 4 years. Today is the 4-year anniversary BTW, I actually got the Wii U in Christmas 2012.

This one is never out of my DS for long.

So I suppose this would be my top pick. Especially since I missed my chance to download Tutankham on the Xbox 360's Game Room service before it was killed off, and thus don't have an emulated version of that great arcade classic on any console. Just old home conversions from back in the day.

@GoneFishin Um, Meteos has a much better chance than the game you displayed.

Meteos might even be the first DS game to be released for both the Nintendo Switch and the 3DS successor.

KCSAH, however, could still be available for Virtual Console.

@GoneFishin Wait a second, Game Room is dead? I knew they stopped releasing new content but is everything removed?

Not removed, but you can no longer add to your arcade by purchasing additional games.

A bit frustrating for me since I had about 6 more titles that I intended to add, but luckily I got most of the real rarities like Food Fight and quite a few of the Konami titles like Juno First before it happened.

That wasn't what the topic was about though. I don't expect my selection to appear even though Konami is a Virtual Console participant. it's merely my top choice from the DS library for what I'd like to see reappear here.

And based off the Nintendo Switch trailer, I wouldn't count on DS downloads or it being expanded to encompass the 3DS as well (The natural next step when the Wii U has DS downloads). Heck, we don't even know for sure if the Switch screen has touch capabilities based off what was shown and all Nintendo showed was a single screen experience in the trailer.

They could offer DS titles on a single screen, but as seen with such screen settings on the Wii U, it's hardly ideal. So I really don't think they'd bother unless there's a way to utilize the Switch screen as your touch screen and your television as the upper display, which seems accepted as rather unlikely.

ill tell yall one thing, it would suck to have the castlevania ds games on wii u vc because of having to use the smallest screen to play, aka the gamepad. only being able to view the tv for maps and stats...yeah no

I vaguely recall being able to swap screens though, flipping them around with the screen option that by default displays the upper screen on the television and the bottom on the Wii U gamepad.

Either way, the touch screen focus screen option actually shows the bottom screen almost as large as possible on a television within the constraints of its original 4:3 aspect ratio, with the upper display of the DS shown beside it in a smaller window. So in a way it's actually more convenient than displaying the bottom screen solely on the tv and the upper on the gamepad.

You don't have to look away from your television just for something like viewing your map, for example. And it enables offscreen play as well. And at least one of the DS Castlevanias had a bit of touch control implemented as I recall, which means with this option you don't have to change anything at such moments to regain touch control capabilities like you would if the bottom display was only being sent to your television.

@GoneFishin
even though i have the 3 castlevania ds games completed, if you dont have to use the gamepad id download them on the wii u just because. ive always wondered how they would utilize that...

SUPER PRINCESS PEACH!!! it's the only DS game not on VC that i'd really love to have added.

The DS VC on Wii U seems dead at this point. They need to put Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story on VC.

The Nintendo Switch is perfectly capable of having DS VC, the device in portable form can serve as Wii U game pad and works with TV just like the Wii U gamepad.

Just got a game a few days ago, didn't it? That's not what I'd call dead...

And no, based off what we've all seen so far the Switch unit has to be docked when playing on your television. The only way to enable DS compatibility unless there's some surprise awaiting us that changes the situation as we know it, is by both displays sharing the same screen.

That rules out playing DS titles in console mode for starters, since the unit with the touch screen will be in the dock and you obviously need access to a touch screen. And as shown by the Wii U with the same size screen as the dimensions flying around for the Switch, you're stuck with an awfully small display when they both share the same gamepad screen in handheld mode.

I think it will be a bit too crippled for Nintendo to want to bother with. Was less than ideal even on the Wii U and at least that had dual screens to offer.

I think the Mega Man Star Force series should make an appearance. The entire GBA Battle Network series (Star Force's predecessor series) is already on the Wii U VC, so it's not a stretch for these to appear on the VC as well.

Currently playing: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch)

Super Princess Peach. Not sure why it wasn't one of the first ones they added. I can't think of a more value-inflated game they could be capitalizing on from their own library than that one.

Also: Front Mission DS

Oh, and Mega Man Battle Network 5. I regret not getting that version when I was younger.

...I know I had another obscure one, but otherwise, they just released Spirit Tracks and Advanced Wars: The version everyone liked for reason edition. I'm good.

EDIT: Infinite Space, maybe? At the very least, I figure it'd be worth a try again if its cheap, but eh...

We just got Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon on VC (finally). The one game I'd truly want is Fire Emblem Heroes of Light and Shadow (FE12) but that only has a fan translation and isn't official, so that would never happen.

I'd like to see Advance Wars Days of Ruin, Chrono Trigger, The World Ends With You, Radiant Historian, Dragon Quest IV, V, VI and IX, Dragon Quest Heroes Rocket Slime, Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 1 and 2, Blue Dragon Plus and Awakened Shadow, Okamiden, Infinite Space, Civilization Revolution,

I wonder what's taking Nintendo so long to release Golden Sun: Dark Dawn? It's one of the few DS games I've never owned that I would download in an instant.

Because they don't really care about what we actually want.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

At this point, we're kind of lucky we get anything. Not necessarily excusing it, but...it's kind of like criticizing an old dog for only wanting to play for 10 minutes before he gets tired when he used to go all day out in the backyard when he was a spry young pup...just give it a rest.

Yeah, I know. Who really wanted to play Fashion Boutique over every other Nintendo DS game?

@GoneFishin Posting on-topic in six different recent threads on the same sub-forum is considered spam now?
