Sadly, this is the only complaint I have about Nintendo consoles. Good RPGs rarely ever release on them, and when they do they're sometimes very hard to get your hands on (see The Last Story and Xenoblade Chronicles).
So I am saving up for a PS4. Hopefully it will satisfy my JRPG cravings while the Wii U continues its JRPG drought.
man do i disagree. you obviously didn't look very hard. the ds and 3ds are rpg machines. the wii had a ton. the wii u is still lacking in this department but im betting this will end soon.
PS3 had a lot more which were normally easier to get so I can understand him thinking the PS4 will have more I mean the Wii U hasn't had much so far with only X in the horizon for the West.
The Wii didn't have a ton, only about 1/2 a dozen that were traditional RPG's, but yes the DS and 3DS have a ton.
valhala knights, kings story, fragile dreams, tales of symphonia, arc rise fantasia, phantom brave, last story, xenoblade, pandoras tower, sakura wars,
ect this is just a short strick list. ive left alot out including but not limited to dl only (ff the after years) and light rpg's hybrids (dragon quest swords)
also the vc was packed to the brims

i'm betting on some xseed, atlus, and askys rpg's in the next year. they seem to hold off in the begining. see 3ds for recent example
Loved the first game, am immensely stuck on the second and cannot play it without a walkthrough guide sitting next to me, therefore, haven't started Dark Dawn. Is there any actual linkage to the third game (ie password, have the GBA cart in the slot while booting it in the DS)? I might restart Lost Age if it releases on Wii U, will probably buy the first just to support and make sure I get that opportunity.
No linkage whatsoever, The Lost Age ended tying up pretty much any loose ends and Dark Dawn takes place a whole generation's time later. Dark Dawn does actually end on a cliffhanger, quite a massive one, but sadly it seems like we won't ever find out what happens due to the game's poor reception... But perhaps this VC release will renew interest? I'll probably download it just to show my support for the series.
Feel free to add me on the Nintendo Network: ShadJV
Here's my 3DS FC, always looking for Pokemon X Friend Safaris: 2191-7643-5167
Peace!

Agreed. If we show some good support, Camelot might get to Golden Sun 4. And instead of trying to reach a wider audience, they should return to the style that made the first two games so successful.
I hear that the Djinns in the series are similar to the Guardian Forces in FF VIII in that the provide skills and status boosts upon leveling up for the character equiped with a Djinn. Is this true?
The thing I like most about the game was how fluid and fast the battle sequences were.
You know how annoying it can be to wait for an animation/mini loading screen before and after a battle in a lot of rpg games? Golden Sun is the opposite of that. They get you in and out and once you get the battle system down you will be cruising through fights at a lightning pace. Makes grinding and random battles a heck of a lot more manageable than your typical jrpg
I still remember the battle music from when I played this as a kid.
The series just gets ruined on the DS so stop playing after the second one people!!! It just gets beat with a stick, tied to a truck and dragged through the mud.
The cat's the only cat who knows where it's at.

I still don't get why not being as good as the first 2 makes Dark Dawn a terrible game. It's still 10X more compelling than like, Magical Starsign or something.

I agree that Dark Dawn is still a fun game, despite not living up to the original two... And I'd encourage any support of the series, I still wanna see the cliffhangers answered from DD!

Just picked this up for the first time this week. Never played it before but always wanted too. Also could I play the ds one without pal the second or missing a lot of content needed?
Currently playing: Mario Kart 8, W101, Lego City, and MANY eshop games. :)

So I had heard there were some bug fixes, I know there were some points in the game where if you went to one area you couldn't go back, like ever. do those still exist? I am still worried about missing something so I have been taking it very slow.
Um....yes a few of them have been fixed from what I've heard, but if you don't trigger certain events you will get stuck
It's less of a bug and more of an oversight by the game's developers
Dark Dawn does everything better as far as combat goes in comparison to the first two games. I would even say it's better than the first Golden Sun by quiet a bit due to it's massive content, weapons/armor selection, items, bosses, exploration, level design, ect. Golden Sun 1 is a fantastic game still to this date but Dark Dawn does exactly the same things just more of it and more refined plain and simple. I do however feel that Golden Sun 2: The Lost Age is still the overall best Golden Sun game to date. That has about the same amount of content as Dark Dawn. All 3 games are amazing imho and I really do hope one day another Golden Sun game will be made with a bit more complexity.
Wii U online games: Mario Kart 8, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Need 4 Speed: Most Wanted U
