Does anyone else remember this game? I loved playing it when I was a kid and keep hoping that it'll show up on the virtual console. It was so funny and interesting, reminded me of a more serious Earthbound.
I was thinking of playing this. But after hearing stuff from it, I dunno if to play it.
I was planning to play this game with my brother (How? Theres a patch which makes the game co-op like SOM :3) after we finished secret of mana, but I chose Seiken Densetsu 3 instead. Should I still play this? Mainly from what ive heard, its a bit disappointing if you played SOM before.
New Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, a remake of Super Mario Bros 1 and The Lost Levels for NSMBDS.

Probably one of the most under appreciated RPGs of the SNES era. It is one of my favorite games. I still own my copy in mint condition. It is a beautiful and atmospheric game with a cool story, very well written with sense of humor.
I recommend it to anyone. Although, I am biased, this game gives me TONS of nostalgia.

They're both different approaches to the same formula. Despite some glitches, I actually enjoyed it a lot more than Secret of Mana solo, but then again, I'm of the opinion that Secret of Mana is an enjoyable-but-barely-playable mess solo. :T
While it wasn't as good as Mana, by the time Evermore came out, I had already completed Mana and wanted something similar but different. The gameplay was still decent enough.
Good choice on Seiken Densetsu 3. That's my favorite.
I played Seiken Densetsu 3 and enjoyed it for its fan-translation but the gameplay wasn't as good as Secret of Mana. And even with infinite energy, I still found some of the later bosses impossible.
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.
I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
keep hoping that it'll show up on the virtual console.
more like secret of nevermore

As @ogo79 said, the SNS-RZ-USA is a prime giveaway that it's not a legit retail cart.
And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)
As I was freelancing game tester back in the early 90s, I will never forget the day I got the prototype of Secret Of Evermore from Squaresoft USA, with orders to play it through for evaluation and some jobs for the official comming guide book from Prima´s.
And as I also earlier played through Secret Of Mana, I went in head over heels into this one. And there was some early plans for a sequal, but that run out in the sand, sort of ..... Pity. But I still have the prototype , over 20 years since I first got it.
I actually loved this but found Secret of Mana to be boring. Really wish they'd do a remake with co-op like the hack. I need to try both games again.
That's what I think as well. Secret of Mana was so grindy, it annoyed me to no end. I'd like to give it another try too.
As for Evermore, it was in fact my very introduction to JRPGs. I don't think it's as good as Chrono Trigger / Earthbound / Final Fantasy VI, but it will always hold a dear place in my heart. I'd be all over a Virtual Console release (then again, the same is true for pretty much the entire Squaresoft SNES catalogue).
The grinding with Secret of Mana never bothered me in fact it might have been a positive is at the time there was next to nothing at all in the PAL region that was a JRPG
Mystic Quest (Which is very mediocre)
Illusion of Time (Gaia) (Which is good but not really a standard JRPG)
Secret of Mana (Which I thought was great).
Secret of Evermore (Which I didn't really like but I played after starting to import the USA classics like FFIIII/Chrono Trigger and getting the simple switched 60hz mod done).

Freedom of the press is for those who happen to own one.
You also got Lufia II (the PAL version has less bugs than the US version) and Breath of Fire II (though I heard it was a pretty rare UK-only release).
I remember that Lufia II was fairly good. But what about this BoF II? I still have a cart and Prima's Guide book to that SNES-game and the cart shows "M/SNS-AF2E-USA". Meaning?

I loved to play that game when I was a 15 yo, the graphics and the OST are absolutely fantastic, great action RPG game.
Call me crazy but I feel it's a better game than Secret of Mana. I know I'm in the minority on this one but I feel the pacing and gameplay are just more solid. Mana is the earlier game by far and Evermore is a US game so the writing/translation is superb. I hope it makes it to the VC soon.
