Topic: Question about Wii Virtual Console games on Wii U

So the final Club Nintendo rewards came out, and I'm thinking about getting F-Zero X. However, when I go to the F-Zero X page on their website, it says that it requires a Wii Classic Controller. I don't have one of those (and I don't plan on buying one), so I was just wondering: are you able to play Wii Virtual Console games with the gamepad?

Nope, you cannot.

Oh well, I guess. I'll probably get the SNES version instead. Thanks!

I was disappointed to hear that you can't use the wii gamepad to play them. That was my reason for wanting the new version of them.

Just buy the Wii Classic Controller Pro. Its a great purchase. I use it for my PC games too with an adaptor.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

I have a gamecube controller, so that will probably work with them.
Does anyone know if gamecube controllers will work (using the mayflash adapter) for the new releases of wii games?
It works on wii games in the wii part of my wii u and works with wii u games.

You can use the new gamecube controllers that are plugged to the wiimote, they are like classic controllers.

Me gusta jugar videojuegos. Soy de México. Sorry my english grammar. I love the Virtual Console, party and fighting games too.

I didn't realise that there were GameCube Controllers available that plugged into the Wii Remote? I thought that was why you needed the GameCube Controller Adaptor

They are made by mayflash and are awesome. I got mine from amazon, but they are on ebay as well.

The adapter is just for people who don't want latency and for tournaments so there's no wireless interference. If you don't care about that, you can just use the PDP controllers that plug into the wii remote.

Thanks, will keep my eye out for one, I already have a SNES controller that plugs into the Wiimote. Would love it if there was an N64 Controller available

Is there any GameCube controller that plugs into the Wiimote? Any link?

@Ootfan98 Yeah The SNES-Wii controller is awesome but I don't miss the N64 controller, I prefer the GameCube one very much.

I really don't like the navigation bar of Nintendo Life continuously reappearing while browsing!!

Not officially.

Still upset NA was left out of the SNES Classic Controller. Is purple plastic such a hot commodity these days?

With the mayflash adapter official gamecube controllers can hook up to a wii mote

I have an adapter to connect one or two CCPros to a PC, though it's different from that. All buttons worked bar plus and minus as I recall.

I went to raphnet technologies to get an adaptor for Wii Remote to N64 Controller. Works pretty good. I have not complaints.
They used to sell GC to N64 adaptors. I haven't looked around there lately.

Can you play PC Steam games with the Wii Classic Controller Pro? Does it work well? I'd like to try this. Thanks.
I think I found the adapter: http://www.amazon.com/Wii-Classic-Controller-Adapter-PC/dp/B0...

I have one of those and you can with x360ce for the most part however there is a few exceptions.

Most annoying thing about it is the requirement to replug the controller in after each reboot otherwise one of the directions end up stuck.

If you want it for the good dpad it is quite a decent option. (With a 360 pad for games you want to use the analog sticks / triggers).

I have stopped though now the xbone controller has a reasonable dpad.

Yes. That is the one I use

It works fine with all games that can be set up with a control pad.
