Time isn't an issue in Pikmin 3 since you can get up to 99 days worth of juice, so unless you don't bother exploring occasionally then time is the least of your concerns.
I hope Pikmin 2 gets an eshop release as well since it's hard going back to the GC versions after using the superior Wii Remote controls.

For most games you're right, but this isn't true for Pikmin. As much as I dislike the waggle controls in games like Skyward Sword; they work brilliantly in Pikmin. Your range is vastly improved, as well as your ability to quickly move the cursor around on screen. So I'd have to agree that the New Play! versions are the definite and superior versions of Pikmin 1 and 2.
@Joeynator3000 I think you're part of the minority then. The overall consensus seems to be that motion controls work a lot better for Pikmin. Especially in Pikmin 3, with the GamePad displaying the map while docked on the charged. That worked pretty well.
