Hi people,
my question is: If you transferred your Wii data to the Wii U and downloaded F-Zero in the eShop, are you stil able to play the Wii VC version without having to buy it again?
I'm asking because the PAL version has quite some sentimental value to me. If i could play both versions on the Wii U that might just be the deal i need to finally get the console.

The eShop version has no impact on what you transfer. The two shops are separate. The only thing which will be happening is if a game shows as purchased in your Wii Shop data you'll get a discount on the price of the eShop version.

The present promotional price is a lot less than the Wii Shop, so it won't even do that.

Thanks Sean. :) That sounds even better than i thought.
So i guess that means when the promotion ends on March 22nd you can upgrade for €1.49 and still be able to play the game in 50Hz/Wii mode?
It should be that way with the €0.99 Balloon Fight upgrade now, but i guess no one here can confirm that.

I don't believe Balloon Fight has been switched to 60Hz actually. But yeah, like I said the eShop purchase doesn't do anything to your Wii Channel data. Now what may well happen in the future is that the Wii Shop goes away and you won't be able to re-download; I suppose there's also a possibility they would swap out the existing 50Hz version for a 60Hz one, but I rather doubt that.

Yeah, it doesn't make much sense for Balloon Fight. It could have been there's the odd one out there who got his Wii U after the promotion and upgraded the game for the Wii U functions, but it would almost be a miracle to find someone like that here. ;)

It might be unlikely but it could still change when Ninty officially launches the Wii U VC service though.
I think i'll talk to Nintendo in the next few days and see what they have to say.
I was a bit in a hurry to find out how it works since with all the recent discounts a Wii U could have been in the cards for me. But the offer's out of stock now anyway, so i have a lot more time to find out now. :)
