Topic: no 2 player on mario kart

Last night me and a friend fancied some karting.
I booted up super mario kart and went to a 2p gp.
But both the gamepad and the pro controller acted for player 1.
Am I being really dim here ?

Press one of the shoulder buttons (ZR I think) to get to the menu where you can create a restore point, and somewhere there's a button where you can assign the controllers.

When I tried this the pro contrller worked but the gamepad would assign to another player ?
Might try again over the weekend but with less beeer !

It does have two player you have to assign one of the controllers to player 2 like the other guy said.

Go to the VC Menu on the gamepad to choose which controller the gamepad pretends to be (1-4). If you want the gamepad to be player 1 and the pro controller to be player 2, then you need to connect another wii remote or pro controller first (as player 1) and then turn on the pro controller (to become player 2). There should be easier way to do it, but there's not.

Ive had this same issue. it thinks gamepad and pro controller is Player 1 and it wont let me change it...

hope they add a fix to make it easier. will try above 2nite..
