The thing that annoys me is the ridiculous file sizes. 100MB for Advance Wars. I am pretty sure the Wii only needed just enough space for the ROM files.

Why would anyone care about this? Unless you're running your VC content off a 512MB SD card this should not be an issue. Get a hard drive and just be happy you can get the GBA games on the Wii U at all!

It's amazing how much attention the wii u, wii u eshop and further more the wii U eshop virtual console would get if they just announced
"Gamecube will be launching on virtual console with luigis mansion, metroid prime and fzero gx." With trickle feed to follow.
SOLD
Furthermore
"Sega Saturn to launch on Virtual Console with Sega Rally '95, Radiant Silvergun, Burning Rangers ad Panzer Dragoon Zwei"
Bring something nobody has been able to do before, something new, add to what's on offer.
Offering less than the precious virtual console is just insane and pathetic.
They've added GBA!!!! SO??
We're upto 3 formats now?
Did te wii virtual console launch with NES, SNES, N64, Master System, MegaDrive and NeoGeo??? Later adding TurboGrafix an Arcade???
Add Nintendo! Not subtract!
The wii u is the first time they've offered the interface and capacity to actually house the entire nintendo back catalogue on one console plus third party classics. At this rate we won't even finish SNES before the wii u lifespan has finished.

With earthbound being the only new Wii U VC release and the rest being 99% regurjitated 'Wii' VC offerings, yup. Releases should obviously be spaced out, but nintendo fan boys are going ape sh** over something like Super Mario Bros 3 being released yet again.lol I have it on cart, have it on the Wii's VC, it's available on the 3DS's VC and now Wii U. How many times does one have to download the same game over and over again. If off-play is your bag, than i guess i see the appeal....I'd still rather play it on the NES, colors look a lot more vibrant and bright vs the ugly dark, muted-color pallette that is the Wii VC version.

Anyhoo, i want Capcom and Konami to get on the VC Bandwagaon here and give us Castlevania Bloodlines(I've already beaten it, but i want it in my VC collection), Contra Hardcorps(Same deal), Mega Man 7, Mega Man X3, Demon's Crest(ect ect)

and i've said numerous times that they should have got the entire "Wii" VC on the eshop in rapid succession and focus on things they didn't re-release before. For the longest time the only game I felt was worth purchasing off the VC library was Earthbound, because it wasn't on the Wii VC and wasn't something I already had laying dormant on Wii mode. Its kinda funny how many are excited for Mario Bros. 3 (which is on the Wii shop channel..), i'd be jumping for joy if we got more N64 games myself and GCN games even tho its likely the later will see a slu of HD remasters in the future rather than VC releases. Lastly the pace of these releases are sad, I remember when the Wii VC first launched, for the first year we got what, 6 games a week compared to our 1 maybe 2 if we're lucky..

I hear what people are saying about re-releases, but considering that I need to use the SD card menu on my Japanese Wii due to storage limitations, I'm kind of enjoying the instant-access nature of VC on Wii U. I mean yeah, I could play Super Mario 3 in Wii mode, but I like NOT having to do that, so I will be kind of excited to get a Devil World on a Wii U VC.

@Sean_Aaron I agree. It's not that I'm "excited" for SMB3 to release on the Wii U VC, it's just annoying that it has taken Nintendo so long to do it.

No argument there. I've said before I don't get why they haven't done more to use older franchise title releases to hype upcoming entries. Super Mario Kart is a step in the right direction, though!

Well, we don't have SMK in the US and no idea when we will get it. It would be great if they would release older games on the VC prior to new game releases and yet they seem to do the exact opposite. Who is going to buy the old version right after getting the new version? And the only reason we're getting the NES version of Dr. Mario is because it's included in NES Remix 2. Nintendo just doesn't make sense sometimes...

Didn't you? I've seen plenty of users talking about getting the old versions

So the vocal minority? How about the "softcore" gamers? (Somewhere between hardcore and casual.) Are they going to buy Dr. Mario on the VC after buying Dr. Luigi on the eShop? Are they going to buy Super Mario Kart after Mario Kart 8? A Link to the Past after A Link Between Worlds? Don't you think people would be more likely to buy a game like that while they're hyped for the new game to come out? Not after they just bought the new one? Maybe after they beat it, I guess, but that's if they're not burnt out on whatever they were playing and are then looking for something different.

Take A Link to the Past, for example. It didn't come out until after A Link Between Worlds. Now, I did get both (of course I already had ALttP on Wii VC so I just had to pay the upgrade fee), but if ALttP had came out before ALBW I would have played it all the way through. However, ALBW came out first so I bought it and played it until the end. Then I started a game of ALttP, but I was no longer in the mood for it because I had just finished ALBW. Had it been the other way around, I would not have been hesitant to play through ALBW because it's new.

First of all, why do you even care about what other people buy? Second, how do you actually know they don't do it? You have no evidence supporting your points and it's all speculation based on plausible logic.

Firstly, because what other people buy determines what games Nintendo and other gaming companies decide to put resources into. My purchases alone count for nearly nothing.

Secondly, I don't know. I'm just stating what I think. Isn't that what people do on the internet? Also, I don't see how basing my thoughts on plausible logic is that bad. At least it's plausible and logical, right?

Plausible for both, yes. At the same time, some of these games aren't just "new versions". The less-vocal "majority" could realize that the old versions are different games. They may play them after finding the newer games appealing. They could also hear that games like Super Mario Kart and A Link to the Past among others are really good.

From my observations, there's a good number of casual players that actually aren't ignorant of video games.

It works both ways. If someone plays a new game and likes it then they might be interested in a older game of the series, just like when someone plays an older game and like it they might be interested in a newer game of the same series. Like if someone played a new Metroid game and enjoyes it they will be more likely to try an older Metroid. Fusion was my first Metroid and I didn't get to play Super Metroid until last year.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

It really does seem like they're sitting on a goldmine and kind of dropped the ball, but I'm not too big on VC anyways.
I'd just like to see more notable games added to the VC library on the eShop. There's too many weeks where none of the games they release interest me. NInty has done a pretty good job with GBA VC thus far so hopefully they can keep it up. I'm crossing my fingers for Mother 3 localization

Cross-play/Buy between their hardware would be a nice addition too.

Four more months until Bayonetta 2.

"Softcore" gamers? Don't they show them late at night on Cinemax and Showtime?
