Any hopes for off tv playing on Wii U?

If they ever start a Neo Geo category, it seems a natural feature. Otherwise, you'll have to hope that Nintendo rolls out gamepad support for Classic Controller enabled releases via Wii mode, like they'll have for downloadable Wii titles off the Wii U eShop.

They've demonstrated that they can do this, but by doing so, they'd eliminate a major incentive for paying Virtual Console upgrade fees. So that feature being introduced for the entirety of Wii mode probably isn't going to occur.

That is kind of a none issue for PAL users. All the Neo Geo is 50hz and hence not worth playing like that.

Shadapayaface. I would love neo Geo in UK. Not sure how 50hz means there's no fun to be had playing them. However ye, 60hz would be great Oh, and Neo Geo Pocket games on 3ds pls.

doesn't bother me really. sure 60hz would be better but I'm not going to deny myself a game I want just because its in 50hz.

I would think if D4 interactive is doing it that they respect the fans and just release the 60Hz versions worldwide.

Pardon my ignorance but is the difference that much? 50hz or 60hz I know are related to PAL and NTSC TV's from Europe and North America / Japan in the past, but the difference of fps and gameplay is affected that much??

I am from Mexico thus I grew up with the 60hz and NTSC so I really don't know the difference.

it manifests as a slightly slower playback which in films transferred to video or DVD isn't that noticeable to me. With games you'd be aware of it if you've ever played the 60Hz version; certainly in the case of Neo Geo people will have played them in the arcade so they might say "hey this music sounds slower!"

You can find PAL vs. NTSC comparison videos on YouTube for Sonic the Hedgehog and it's pretty noticeable, but it wouldn't be enough for me to skip a game entirely when my only other choice would be running an emulator on my PC or tracking down original hardware and software.

I hope so.

I've been waiting for NGPC on the 3DS VC, too.

Many PAL games also weren't full-screen, another issue if the title wasn't properly optimized.

I'm not familiar with the PAL scene for the Neo Geo, but I assume that also applies to this platform as well.

Don't forget that Wii mode uses the game pad as a screen for off tv display. So, yes, NeoGeo VC can be played of tv, albeit with a Wii controller.

If Nintendo do an update to use the gamepad instead classic controller in Wii mode we could play without problem all Neo Geo games.

@DarkEdi: They're not going to do that since players won't have much incentive to pay to upgrade to Wii mode otherwise.

I wanted to talk about NeoGeo games and didn't see a point in making a new thread when a perfectly good one exists already. If this gets closed, I'll just make a new one with the same title.

While we're waiting for Nintendo to allow NeoGeo games on the Wii U, I'd like SNES ports to be released at the same discount as if you've already downloaded the SNES game on Wii if you have downloaded the NeoGeo game. Okay, so the SNES ports aren't as good as the NeoGeo originals but they're mostly acceptable for a SNES game.
